The Islanders wasted no time taking the lead, they struck 4 minutes in, and it was clear right away that this wasn’t the Detroit Red Wings, it’s a Barry Trotz coached team that sticks to its system. To win, the Canadiens were going to have to battle, and they tried, in the first period anyways…
When the Isles got a 2nd goal early in the second frame, it was a true test for a team that has got such a shaky confidence and it was promptly failed. From then on, the Habs didn’t look like they were in this fight at all, they looked like they had thrown in the towel…or like they wished they could have thrown it in. Instead, they were given a proper walloping and they fell to the ground just like Apollo Creed against Drago. By the end of the second period, it was 5-0 Islanders, and the crowd was booing the Sainte-Flanelle and rightfully so. Jake Allen’s night finished then as Samuel Montembeault was put in for the 3rd. Suzuki et Toffoli scored in the 3rd but it was insufficient to say that the Habs saved their honor. Final score: 6-2 Islanders.

There’s not too much to say about this game aside from the fact that we’re seeing the same thing over and over, blown defensive coverage, lots of shots off target, bad communication, turnovers and a team that seems unable to pull in the same direction. They say they have a system, and they know what to do to win, but they are just unable to do it.
I’m not a negative person, but this time after the 12th game of the season, I’m afraid we’ve got to come to terms with one thing: this team IS as bad as its record and it’s not going to magically get better. I never advocate for tanking, but it seems the Habs are doing it without even trying this season so be patient fans, it’s time to take the shame for Shane.
In the good news category, it has now been confirmed that Carey Price will come out of the player assistance program this weekend and rejoin his family. Obviously, he won’t be ready to jump straight back in action but why would he in any case? Even Playoffs Price couldn’t sort out this mess.

Pour gagner, le CH allait devoir se battre, et il a essayé, en première période au moins…
Quand les Isles ont secoué les cordages pour une deuxième fois tôt en deuxième, c’est devenu un vrai test pour une équipe à la confiance fragile et l’échec fut sans appel. Dès ce moment-là , le CH n’avait tout simplement pas l’air de prendre part à la bataille, il avait l’air d’avoir lancé la serviette…ou comme s’il souhaitait pouvoir le faire. Mais non, à la place ils ont, comme on dit en bon Québécois, mange toute une volée et il se sont effondrés au sol tel Apollo Creed sous les coups de Drago. à la fin de la 2e période, la marque était 5-0 Islanders, et la foule huait la Sainte-Flanelle avec raison. La soirée de travail de Jake Allen a pris fin à ce moment-là et Samuel Montembeault a été délégué pour la 3e. Nick Suzuki et Tyler Toffoli ont marqué en 3e mais c’était bien insuffisant pour dire que l’honneur est sauf. Marque finale : 6-2 Islanders.

Il n’y a pas grand-chose à dire sur ce match à part le fait que c’est toujours la même chose en boucle, des mauvaises couvertures défensives, beaucoup de tirs hors cible, des problèmes de communication, des revirements et une équipe qui semble incapable de mettre l’épaule à la même roue. Les joueurs disent avoir un système et savoir quoi faire pour gagner, mais ils sont tout simplement incapable de le faire.
Je ne suis pas une personne négative de nature, mais cette fois, après le 12e match de la saison, je crains bien qu’il faille se l’admettre : cette équipe est aussi mauvaise que sa fiche le démontre et les choses ne s’arrangeront pas d’un coup de baguette magique. Je n’ai jamais été de l’école de ceux qui souhaitent perdre par exprès, mais le CH semble le faire sans même essayer alors soyez patients fans du CH, votre patience pourrait être récompense par la sélection de Shane Wright.
Catégorie bonne nouvelle, il est maintenant confirmé que Carey Price sortira du programme d’aide aux joueurs ce weekend et rejoindra sa famille. à‰videmment, il ne reviendra pas au jeu tout de suite, mais pourquoi le ferait-il de toute façon? Même le Price des séries ne pourrait pas mettre de l’ordre dans ce désordre.
