Flowery Kingdom (blackhawks)

On to the game, the 1st period was rather sloppy, boring, and uneventful. The energy and pace picked up in the 2nd as the Blackhawks rebounded from a 1-0 hole to take the lead on secondary scoring with goals from 4th liner Jujhar Khaira and 3rd pair D-man Riley Stillman.

There was more slop in the 3rd but it didn't matter as the Hawks eeked out the win. Fleury's game-saving block in the final minute of regulation was reminiscent of the stop he made in the remaining seconds versus the Red Wings to help the Penguins clinch the 2009 Stanley Cup.

Game Notes

* On the 1st goal allowed, there were lots of bodies in front as the puck veered left to the short side that Fleury just couldn't snag.

* The Hawks weren't very good at all with breakouts for much of the night which was partially a byproduct of their lackluster clearing attempts.

* Another struggle was keeping pucks in the zone while on the power play.

* On the positive side of the ledger, the Hawks blocked 24 shots including 15 by the blueliners; Connor Murphy had 6 of them.

* Although significantly more than Nicolas Beaudin's 1:11 in Thursday's game, Ian Mitchell only got 7:24 of ice time.

* Not only did Khaira score the game-tying goal but he also dished out 10 hits.

* Henrik Borgstrom not only consistently chased and freed up pucks but also got shots off in tight spaces.

* Lukas Reichel remained hot with a goal and assist and 6 points total in a pair of games this weekend.

* Dylan McLaughlin delivered 2 assists while exhibiting his elusiveness, fluidity, and smarts as an excellent skater as he got into areas of the ice to generate chances.

* Michal Teply may not be fleet of foot but he still gave a darn on defense hustling to get back and help defend; offensively he took himself and the puck to the net with regularity.

* Wyatt Kalynuk played his best game of the season taking precise angles defensively and managing tight gaps; he also demonstrated his capacity as a reliable PP quarterback with quick decisions and puck movement.

* Collin Delia got beat over his shoulder with no screens on both goals scored by the Admirals.
