The Anaheim Ducks announced today that they’ve re-signed forward Alexander Volkov to a one-year contract, which carries a $925,000 cap hit.

Re-signing Volkov to a one-year deal at a low price should give the Ducks a better look at the player, to see whether he could be a long-term fit. Depending on which protection format the Ducks use for the expansion draft, there’s a slim chance that Volkov could be protected, however, it’s likely he’ll be left exposed and will instead fulfill one of the Ducks’ exposure requirements for forwards.
