Caufield’s NHL debut (Canadiens)

Habs Twitter exploded this afternoon when a Wisconsin journalist first reported that Cole Caufield would be playing his first NHL game tonight. Tony Marinaro then reported the information as well and set Habs land on fire. A few minutes ago, Dominique Ducharme confirmed that it was true and that Caufield will be playing.

Tatar, Byron and Drouin are still questionnable tonight so Ducharme couldn’t tell us which one(s) would sit out and which one(s) would play so no clue yet as to who will get to be Caufield’s linemates.

That being said, no one thinks that Caufield is the savior and the Canadiens will magically be unbeatable, what Habs fans are thinking however is that after a week of sleep inducing defeats, there will finally be something new to see tonight.

Let’s be real here, yes, the youngster will have some pressure but he was always going to have some in his big league debut. So far, the 15th pick overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft has played 2 games with the Rocket in the AHL. During those two games, he took to the AHL level like a fish to water and scored 3 goals in 2 games.

So, be ready Habs fans, the puck drops at 6:30 PM!
