There may be a couple of weeks left before the Canadiens’ training camp opens, but more and more players are starting to hit the ice at the Complexe Sportif CN in Brossard. Nick Suzuki, who spent the Summer in Montreal as long been a regular, Cole Caufield was also recently seen on the ice, looking as good as new. Speaking of new, new acquisition Alex Newhook has now arrived as well and appears eager to get going with his new team.
Paul Byron was also present, acting as a coach, it wouldn’t be surprising if the organization found him a role as such. He could certainly help with players’ skating skills and with the penalty killing. As for Christian Dvorak who has undergone a knee operation and wasn’t expected to be ready for the start of the season, he was also skating but this was far from being an intense training session, time will tell if he will be ready for the new season.

As for Justin Barron and David Reinbacher, they were attending the Player Orientation Program in Virginia. George Laracque was one of the guest speakers to talk about inclusion. The program is designed to enhance players’ life skills, both generally and as they relate to life in the NHL. The three-day program is given to approximately 90 young players over the course of 3 days each summer.

Next week, Canadiens’ prospects will be competing in a rookie tournament in Buffalo from September 15 to 18. The list of players who will take part should be revealed any day now, it’s really starting to smell like hockey.
