It's Day Two at the IIHF World Juniors.
Team Canada will play its first game of the tournament when Team Germany comes calling tonight. Germany lost 5-3 to Team Finland on Christmas night.
Hours before puck drop, Team Canada announced its new team leadership group.
The International Ice Hockey Federation announced that Buffalo Sabres prospect Dylan Cozens and Colorado Avalanche draft choice Bo Byram will rotate wearing the "C" for Canada. Per IIHF rule, Kirby Dach will remain the captain of Team Canada.
Cozens is no stranger to wearing a "C" as he is the captain of his Lethbridge Hurricanes club in the Western Hockey League.
At 6'4" and 200 lbs.,, Cozens is an elite level skater who is mobile, agile and hostile. Cozens has a high compete level and has a bomb for a shot.
Before teh Dach injury, Canada's top line was made up of Jack Quinn (Buffalo Sabres), Dylan Cozens and Kirby Dach.
In practice on Friday, Cozens moved to right wing on the top line with Alex Newhook at Center and Jack Quinn on left wing.
Byram is a complete puck mover who is an elite skater. Byram ups the tempo and energy and handles the puck well and is able to keep control of it under pressure.
Dach, (Chicago Blackhawks) was injured in the third period of a pre-tournament game against Team Russia on Wednesday night. Dach was sent home from the Edmonton bubble to pursue medical treatment for his wrist/arm injury.
Connor McMichael will now wear an "A" for Canada.
