After Jordan Harris and Lucas Condotta last week, Kent Hughes signed prospect Emil Heineman to a 3-year entry level contract. The Swedish player was acquired in the transaction that sent Tyler Toffoli to Calgary and the Canadiens wasted no time putting pen to paper with him. The deal is good for 3 years and will see him earn $750,000 at the NHL level in 2022-2023, $832,000 in 2023-2024 and 2024-2025. If he plays in the AHL, he’ll earn $80,000 per season and he’s also got a $92,500 signing bonus each year.
The 20-year-old is a 6-foot-1 and 185 lbs winger and has gathered 31 points in his 3 seasons (92 games) in the Swedish Hockey League. It should be noted that just like Lucas Condotta, he has signed a professional tryout contract with the Rocket and will therefore be on hand to assist Jean-François Houle’s men in their quest for a playoffs spot in the AHL.
Today was team picture day at the Bell Centre and who would have guessed that the team picture would have looked like this back in July when the Habs made the Cup final. There’s a lot of youth on that picture and no sign of team captain Shea Weber, who wasn’t in the early season one either.

The Habs practiced at the Bell Centre after the picture was taken and it looks like 2 long-awaited returns could happen soon. Brendan Gallagher was wearing a regular jersey and Carey Price was in one of the nets for the mini game, a sure sign that the goaltender is getting nearer to a return.

Elliotte Friedman reported this weekend that he wouldn’t be surprised if Carey Price played a few games and was traded this summer and I must say I agree with him. Clearly, the Canadiens intend to use a new style of play and it would make sense to invest in the attack rather than pay 10.5 millions a year for a goalie and pray that someone can score. Yes, Price has a no-movement clause and 4 years still to go on his contract, but there are ways and means around all this. He has said he wants to finish his career in Montreal, but I strongly believe that if he’s given a chance to play for a contender who’s nearer to his British-Columbia home, he won’t veto a trade. Time will tell..

Le contrat est d’une durée de 3 ans et lui rapportera $750,000 s’il joue dans la LNH en 2022-2023, $832,000 pour les deux années suivantes. S’il joue dans la LAH, il recevra $80,000 par an et le contrat inclut également un bonus de signature de $92,500 par an. L'ailier de 20 ans fait 6 pieds 1 et 185 lbs et a récolté 31 points pendant ses 3 saisons dans la ligue suédoise de hockey (92 matchs). De plus, tout comme Lucas Condotta, il a signé un contrat d’essai professionnel avec le Rocket qui lui permettra d’aller prêter main forte aux hommes de Jean-François Houle dans leur quête pour une place en séries.
Aujourd’hui, c’était jour de photo d’équipe au Centre Bell et je ne peux m’empêcher de me dire que personne n’aurait cru que cette photo aurait cette allure il y a moins d’un an en juillet quand le CH s’est faufilé en finale de la Coupe Stanley. Beaucoup de jeunesse sur cette photo et toujours pas de trace du capitaine Shea Weber qui n’en était pas en début d’année non plus.

Les Habs ont ensuite pratiqué au Centre Bell et on dirait bien que 2 retours très attendus se prépare. Brendan Gallagher portait un chandail régulier et Carey Price défendait l’un des deux filets lors d’un mini-match, un signe clair que le gardien s’approche d’un retour.

Elliotte Friedman rapportait ce week-end qu’il ne serait pas surpris si Price jouait quelques matchs et était échangé cet été et je dois dire que je suis d’accord. Clairement, le CH entend maintenant pratiquer un style de jeu diffèrent et ce serait logique d’investir en attaque plutôt que de payer un gardien 10.5 millions par an et de prier que quelqu’un arrive à marquer. Oui, Price a une clause de non-échange et 4 ans à faire à son contrat, mais il y a des façons de contourner ces 2 problèmes. Il a dit qu’il aimerait terminer sa carrière à Montréal mais si on lui donne la possibilité de jouer pour un aspirant à la Coupe qui est plus près de sa Colombie-Britannique natale, il ne s’opposera pas à un échange d’après moi. Le temps nous le dira…
