well its all about stats right. I guess Rome is better then Schenn. Hamhuis then Phanuef. - Kaptainkesler
That makes no sense considering Rome has worse stats than Schenn and Hamhuis has worse stats than Phaneuf... but whatever floats your boat |

Having watched most of last year's Vancouver/Chicago series, I have to ask a Chicago fan what's going on with Crawford?
After watching what that kid could do last year, I thought for sure the Hawks had an emerging superstar on their hands.
Is he really that bad? I didn't realize it was such a big deal. - Leeman4Gilmour
while crawford hasn't been very good this yr, he is a scapegoat. Defense is suspect at best. they are weak on the 3rd/4th line. Even the stars seem to be struggling, Toews included. As I said earlier I have read more then one place that the hawks apparently have some serious dressing room problems. |

I think with the return of Theodore and Markstrom, Clem has really showcased himself well. He's 9-4-5 this season, and is playing great hockey in net. Could he be on the move? Go for debate. |

while the rome comment was sarcastic. Hamhuis 25 points, +12 in a shutdown role. Dion 33 points -2. Dion also sees way more pp time. So your original comment suggesting that stats prove who is better, I guess this mean Hamhuis is a lot better |

Phaneuf also plays a shutdown role and has 8 more points... so no, those stats do not at all show Hamhuis is better. Your argument is primarily based on +/- which is stupid to put it in simple terms. And if you want to talk about playing a shutdown role, Phaneuf is better in just about every defensive d-man category. And no, I highly doubt that Rome comment was sarcastic. You probably figured since Schenn was a defensive d-man and that he was involved in trade talks that he had crappy stats. Move along. |

We need some offense. No Parise type players, but someone to ignite our second line. |

to say the defense is suspect is putting it nicely. The team had several needs last off season, and addressed only the "need" for guys who are old, bad and cheap (aside from montador, who got a 3 yr deal for being under 35)
Keith & Leddy are getting way more minutes than either needs. Dressing John Scott should be punishable by death, Lepisto? who knows last night was the first he's played in 15+ games.
The "big gritty" free agents of last summer have failed for the most part (im OK with Mayers play), and the team has done nothing to rectify this. Well, they DID trade for Brendan Morrison......
The special teams have been lousy, the goaltending has been subpar.
There is no easy fix for this team. |

Personally I don't see the excitement JJ ad some hawk fans had with the "tough guy" additions. Carcillo is an idiot, who's bad penalties kill his team. I like the bruneete signing. As for Mayers, guy couldn't even play regulerly on a soft Sharks team. Montador is alrght. But they r having the same problems as last yr. Keith can't play over 25 min or he is exposed. Crawford is streaky. You guys need a top 4 d man more then a tough one. Lebru is reporting that you guys are after Vishvovshy. I also read on another site that a Vishnovshy and Parros deal for Leddy and Kruger has been discussed. |

So Dion can't stop apposing teams and that makes him better the Hamhuis? I agree Dion is better but the point is stats are crap. Every GM in the league takes Hamonic over Schenn. Burke included. He's even younger. Hamonic also has way better offensive upside |

Carcillo will never dress for the Hawks again, so that doesn't worry me.
I don't think they'll send Leddy or Kruger anywhere. I could see a current top 4 D man to scale Leddy's minutes back. Leddy has a good chance to be a top 4 in the future, and they've given him the trial by fire this year.
IMO it'd be more likely they send off a combination Frolik, Bickell, and or prospects for someone like Sutton or Gill. It doesnt make sense for two young guys with big upsides to be sent for a rent-a-player that, in all fairness, doesn't make them any more of a threat to win the cup.
A minor move or two, and a first round exit from the playoffs (assuming they even make it at this point) that is the likely outcome of this all. at least that's my gut feeling. |

Keith, Leddy, Hjalmersson, are all stick checking sallies. Numerous times per game, Duncan Keith lets the other team beat him to the puck in our end, just so he can stick check them. Zero grit in front of the net and in the corners. Crawford is a rebounding frenzy, not a good match for our Defense. Trade Duncan Keith, Cory Crawford, and Frolik for Ryan Miller and Jordan Leopold or Robyn Regehr. The Hawks have so much depth up front losing Frolik wont be a problem. Then trade Leddy for Suter in Nashville |
