Ballard is at least a team first guy with good speed and would have nothing but up side for Minny.

The Wild need to dump Zid as soon as possible. He's been a poison in the locker room and on the ice for the Wild so far this year, and he seems to be the only guy on the team that refuses to adapt to Mike Yeo's system. I would be happy with just getting rid of him at this point. The Wild aren't going get anything of value in return and not many teams are going to want his $4 million cap hit, but there's a market for him somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in a place that needs a puck moving defenseman. He complained to the media here about his displeasure with his role on the Wild, but he still won't take shots and is not producing. He was good for the team at a time, and now maybe he just needs a change of scenery.

The fact that he isn't getting along with the coaches in Minnesota doesn't mean he's going to go cheap. Every team who wants a puck moving defenseman will be in on this guy, the price will be more than Ballard.

That may be so. But really, did anyone really expect them to take ballard for him? Vancouver would have had to up the package to TAKE Ballard.
