Best player in the league when he doesn't have Crosby holding him back.

I do. When Crosby goes down and Malkin's healthy he rips the league apart.

Crosby holding him back?

lol

no

Crosby played 77 games when Malkin had his career year in points. Crosby playing or not playing has no affect on Malkin's ability to dominate.

lol

Yes

When Crosby missed the last 30 games games I 07/08 Malkin put up something like 55 points in those 30 games.

Yes he did have a nice run when Crosby was out in 07-08. He had a stretch of 30 points in 15 games. The year after that he had a stretch where he got 27 points in 13 games too. Surprisingly Crosby was healthy then. It can't be that he's just a good player who plays well all the time. Nope. Better get rid of Crosby so Malkin can shine. Malkin didn't suck last year because he was battling through injuries, it must've been Crosby holding him back.

Seriously though Malkin is always a beast when healthy. Doesn't matter who else is playing.

Because Crosby is holding him back? Crosby draws the defensive matchups and Malkin gets the same ice time (or close to it) when Crosby is in or out. Having Crosby playing healthy is a good thing for the entire Pittsburgh team.

Maybe Malkin steps up his game and finds another gear when Crosby is out. That could happen. That's hardly Crosby holding him back like he suggested though.

Whatever spin you want to put on it, he's better when Crosby is out.

When a guy does better when another guy isn't around, I consider that being held back.

Malkin puts up more points when he's the only go to superstar on the ice

Pittsburgh is a better team when they're both in the lineup

My take is only one guy can have the puck at a time. Both Sid and Malkin thrive when they have the puck. Without Sid being there Malkin gets more of the premium ice time and is the guy with the puck more often.
