Fringe Festival was just in town here. Its like the weird, artsy celebration week where all sorts of weirdos do their "i'm too poor to go to burning man" art.

I went to got dragged to one short film that was shot in 3:3, like an instagram video, and it was deathly boring and pretentious. Like it was all self shot and blah blah his reality blah blah social norms blah blah.

Anyway none of this matters because farts parading as artistic choice are worse than Hitler.

It was like 12-15 minutes long and the last shot was a close up of his face turning slowly to the camera and then he yells as it fades to black.

people (frank)ing cheered. one of the dudes cheering was wearing the borat swimsuit.

once in a while i can tolerate weird camera stuff

the 4:3 or w/e in ghost story actually made the movie better

the sepia (i snickered typing that) in stalker helped make the vivid colours in the zone feel even more mysterious and cool

the majority of the time it's eye rolling though

its usually the worst because usually you can tell the decision to do something that way was because the person literally was like "this will make it more artistic" instead of actually having an artistic reason.

i usually quite like Fringe because its weird as poop. Like you see all the weirdos out and about. street performers and the buskers and whatnot are neat.

this was the first time i did the film experience and i'll never ever go back. i get the feeling that its basically all variants on student films like that poop pile.

there was a dude at buskerfest (probably our equivalent of what you went to) last year or the year before that just painted himself silver to look like a statue and he didn't move a millimeter for like 12 hours.

impressive but.. why?

i don't pretend to understand much of it.

there were some dudes walking around like they were from mad max but they kinda looked like that was their normal way of looking.

i think a couple years ago they had one of those "artists" who locked themselves in a cage on the street and didn't eat or drink anything but a single bottle of water a day for like 3 or 4 days or something. think they banned that because it got real gross and (frank)ed up. i'm fuzzy on the details. it might have been down in calgary.

a friend of mine sent a snapchat of a group of like 20 midgets all hangning out.
