My No Country for Old Men opinion is sort of outdated in that I haven't seen it since I saw it when it first came out. Everyone hyped it up so much so I came into it expecting it to blow my mind and to me it just seemed like an edgy violent movie with a souped up (is that the saying?? lol) mantracker assassin as the villain. Maybe if I came into it with no expectations I would've seen it differently.

its one of the few movies where i read the book afterwards. it does a good job with the material.

i pretty much love the entire cast too

top 3 surprising acting performances, negative or positive

Robert De Niro and PSH in Flawless. It's the same director that did Batman & Robin so maybe it shouldn't be surprising that he let De Niro and PSH turn in such terrible performances. What a disaster.

Luke Wilson in The Royal Tenenbaums. Honestly one of my fav performances in any movie. So understated and perfect for the character.

Nick Nolte in Affliction. I suppose we saw glimpses of his acting ability in Lorenzo's Oil and Mother Night but he's a powerhouse here.

I think Joel Schumaker was my very first hated director as a kid. I remember being like 12 years old and loathing him for ruining the batman franchise lol

good takes. I appreciate the LW one as I guess I never really looked at it that way.

I did see Affliction but i barely remember it now. Nolte was also amazing in Blue Chips, imo. It's about college basketball corruption so there's no way you saw it

Nothing in his career prior to that suggested that he would be up to the task lol. What a weird choice for a Batman director.

I'd like to see David Fincher do a Batman movie. I'm willing to forget about Alien 3. It at least had a cool mood and looked great even if it was a mess.

Yeah I haven't seen it lol. I'm not huge into sports movies in general and I'm a known basketball hater.

Nolte was good in The Thin Red Line too but he's not on screen very much.

Lego: Ninjago is a good fun movie, if its kinda relies on the "gag is that they're Lego" a bit too much.

Watched Tropic Thunder for the first time. Pretty darn good but not this all time great comedy that I was expecting based on the last 9 years of people talking about it

Made a watch list for this week:
Mr Right
Due Date
Rush
Eddie the Eagle
Hell or High Water (again)

Just got through my four pack of Steven Seagul DVDs and I can't say enough about them. I got Under Siege (Subs) Fire Down Below ( excessive groin shots and Steve plays an EPA agent who knows karate and packs like nine awesome coats to go to Kentucky in the middle of the summer ) Above the Law (so, so good) as well as the classic Damon Wayen's vehicle the Glimmer Man (Stephen plays an eastern philosophy loving, bead wearing shaman of some sort).

Collectively, these are some of the best films ever made. And all it cost me was five bucks!! A lot of people like Seagul ironically, but I sincerely think he's great.

I'm watching this show on Netflix via BBC about Auschwitz. Pretty bananas, but thats not what I'm here to share.

They use music from Twin Peaks. So I'm assuming the show either used royalty free tracks or the tracks became part of creative commons.
