Up to the point where they leave the alcoholic guys house it's watchable but beyond that point is a tire fire. It's a dull movie.

I kept waiting for things to happen. And then when I realized that nothing would happen I waited for it to end. And then it took forever to do that.

The older the kid got the worse the movie got. The like first couple years when he's like 6-8 are watchable.

I'm a big fan of movies where nothing happens. There's zero payoff with this one though, the characters suck. Other than Ethan Hawke's character they are all ._.

i knew it would be, but it always blows my mind how its reception is so positive for literally a move more boring than Valhalla Rising.

There were like 2 scenes I thought would actually result in things happening.

When they're throwing the saw blade at the wall and kinda bullying the brown kid. Thought he was gonna get (frank)ed up and the kid was going to have to deal with that. Nope.

Then when his mom is like "don't text and drive" and he's like "sure won't" and then he's texting a picture of a pig or something. Thought for sure he was gonna hit someone or get in a car crash and have to live with it. Nope, nothing happens.

Then that one scene where the mom is like "are you drinking? on drugs? partying?" or whatever. I gave up at that point expecting anything that felt like it was being set up turn into a pay off of any kind.

Critics can be swayed by Oscar bait gimmicks. Take a pretty uninspiring script but make the film in a technically difficult way and people wet themselves. See Revenant as another recent example.

THEY FILMED IT IN THE COLD. LEO WAS COLD THE WHOLE TIME. SO GOOD.

Ok but the movie was average. Who cares. Get heated trailers or film in a less remote area next time.

With Boyhood would anyone even be interested in it if it didn't have the whole "we filmed the kids as they were growing up" gimmick and just used different actors to play the kids at different ages?

Only coll thing about The Revenant was looking at the landscape and going "Hey, I've been there. And there. I camp there every summer..."

Don't get that much living where I do.

The best thing about the movie was easily the cinematography. Emmanuel Lubezki is probably the most talented modern cinematographer though and it was filmed in a beautiful area so no surprise there.

Regarding Pokemon Go and someone dying due to stupidity while playing:

until today i have not gotten into it. i don't know exactly what it is but it seems to be an interaction between our reality and some elements of virtual reality, and it poses a question; is not our existence as we live it a virtual reality already

The interviewer had nothing to say to that.

I'd kill to have a conversation with him. He's not pulling his leg, he's being sincere.

i get the feeling he is just an bumhole. or just takes acting super seriously

i've seen a few interviews of his for BvS and American Ultra and mabes something else, and he was like so deathly serious about acting and how everything is serious all the time.
