alot of question marks in this division.

- nightmare3020

so as of today im only off by 1, sabres and habs have to switch.

Not to mention the leafs and sens have the same amount of points, i basically said(and in one thread i did i cant remember which) flip a coin for the leafs and sens, both have alot of holes and its come true.

If we somehow combined the leafs and sens we would have a sick team

Points only work to compare teams that have played the exact same number of games.

Points mesmerize most people into thinking a team is better than another, or that they have a shot at the playoffs.

As of now, the leafs are playing the better hockey of all NHL teams in Ontario. Both are destined to finish the season out of the playoffs.

Perhaps your wish to combine the two teams could be done on the first weekend after the regular season, at a golf course, for charity.

(see date of post)

Today's current P% rankings of the North East Division.

The "true" standings of the teams (within the division)
http://www.nhl.com/ice/te...ointPctg&viewName=summary

BOS-.633 (99.8% chance of making the playoffs)
MTL-.598 (85.6% chance of making the playoffs)

BUF-.489 (08.7% chance of making the playoffs)
TOR-.466 (02.7% chance of making the playoffs)
OTT-.435 (00.1% chance of making the playoffs)

Best Case Scenario for Ottawa.

-toronto to keep advancing up the overall standing and lowering the Bruins draft position in June.
-having both Edmonton and Islanders pass Ottawa, increasing the Senators chance of selecting as high as possible in the entry draft.
-unloading as many unwanted players for draft picks or prospects before the deadline.

The site takes that into account. That being said, the site is rather silly.

points percentage is the more accurate way or rating teams equally, rather than points alone, despite the number of games played.

points earned per number of games played = points percentage.

The link is to NHL.com, so not silly as prock says.

I was responded more so for prock, who seems to think that NHL.com is a "silly" site.

It does not take a Rocket scientist to figure out he is clearly he is responding to the "points percentage" ranking on NHL.com, as ClubSportsStats does not list P%

Then you responded to him with

The site takes that into account. That being said, the site is rather silly.
- prock

Clearly referring to ClubSportStats.com, NOT NHL.com, because that's how you referred to ClubSportStats.com in the past when it indicated the leafs were totally out of the playoff race back in December 2009.

Do you get it now? (I doubt it) Unless you truly believe NHL.com is "a silly site" (your words).

sabres could still potentially pass montreal (dispite roys injury which is huge)

looks like i wasnt so far out

With a decent chunk of hockey left, you could indeed be right in there!

I'm still looking around for those among my fellow Sens fans who were smugly stating "Come on, this is the same core that came in 5th in the East last year, and now we have Gonchar! Give your head a shake if you think they're not at least competing for the division!"

Personally, I gave up on guessing years ago. I suck terribly at it.

it was clear from day one leafs and sens would be the weaker teams in the division

sens have no goaltending
leafs have too many issues, moving kaberle just made it worse(i like the deal im just saying strictly competing this year)

props to sabres playing well of late without roy, hes a huge part of that club

now i know he will come out with his doppeldochery and say he didnt ..... but i know the true

Third place in a five team Division is not last place.

His team isnt as great as he thinks it is. The leafs are in the same boat as us,decent against mid to lower tier teams ,crap against the better teams

No they're not. The Sens aren't as good as you think they are, if you think they're in the same boat.

The Sens roster is horseshyt.

Please prock ,i know where the sens are and i can admit they are a lower tiered team.Too bad you are such a homer you cant see that toronto is not all that much better than the sens.

Not lower tiered. They're horseshyt. Terrible. It's a roster that arguably doesn't belong in the NHL. I honestly think a game between the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Marlies would be a close game. Or any other AHL team near the top of the league.
