If there a thread you don't troll, looking for my posts from the distant past, and replying to them? I must be a big part of your day.

A lot of Senator fans may not be taking into account his most recent hip surgery, and the fact that he did come back too soon last season, and that lead to a lot of rehab during last summer. As a result he did not "train" in the normal sense for this season, and then he sat out the whole training camp disputing his contract.

He was not prepared for this season, and has been catching up all season long, and has at times been the worst player on the ice as a result.

He needs to dedicate himself this off season, and come back strong for the next season, and then we can see if this season was a harbinger of things to come or not.

Don't forget, he was rushed, in my opinion, into the NHL. He only played 3 regular season games in Binghamton, and 10 playoff games as well. As of today, he has yet to play 150 games in the NHL, and as everyone realizes, D-Men take a bit longer to develop, and that's why I think he should have spent more time in the AHL, as Kadri (119 games) did.

Kadri has slipped in well to the second line center position, and gets a little more room to manoeuvre because the opposition is focusing on the first line, and he's taking advantage of that.

I see a lot of what was said about Schenn being repeated here. Very interesting.

Perhaps they can trade Cowen for their version of Van Reimsdyk?

If Ryan is Ottawa's Kessel, finding a senator-worthy JVR shouldn't be too hard at all.

Ottawa has six D-men already signed to "one way" contracts, for next season. Ceci has essentially made the team, and is still on a "two way" contract, but I don't see them sending him down next season. Plus Gryba is a RFA this summer. So there is a potential trade as you suggest, but I doubt very much it would be Cowen. First, he is a first round draft pick that has yet to play 150 games in the NHL, so a little to soon to give up on him. Secondly his stock is low now, and if they ever decided to trade him, they would wait until he's playing better................but then why would they trade him when he's playing better.

No. The senators do not measure up well, on the division, province, or AHL.

Two teams in Ontario, each have 3 wins each, vs the other.

One team protected to finish in the basement (again) of the NHL, the other has fans lining up along Younge Street, saving their places for the SC Parade.
