OK......look.........I like Ruff for the most part. I do think he is a decent coach, but the lines he puts together make NO SENSE and he often times uses guys in the wrong way.

I know I am not a hockey coach and I know Ruff knows a lot more about hockey than I do, BUT one of the main reasons they are not scoring is because he is using guys in situations and on lines that do not maximize the player's talents! It is pretty obvious to all of us that this team is lacking in talent to begin with and to stick guys like Ennis and Gerbe (offensive, skilled players) with average to below average hockey players drags them down as well and you won't get the most out of them! USE PLAYER'S TALENTS TO MAXIMIZE WHAT YOU DO HAVE!!!!!

Roy has played his best hockey when he has been with Ennis. Ennis has played his best hockey when he has been with Roy. Vanek is best with Roy as his Center. PUT IT TOGETHER AND LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!

Gerbe is an offensive player......He needs to play with other offensive players to get the most out of him. Connolly, as of now is your 2nd best Center......Hecht has proven he is best when he is a 2-way player and not being relied on for offense. So, get Hecht off the second line! Right now, Pommer is out, so Stafford is the only guy that really fits in here. Gerbe with Connolly and Stafford........PUT IT TOGETHER AND LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

The bottom 2 lines are pretty interchangeable in terms of players. Many offer the same type of talents, so it doesn't matter a whole lot. In this case, I want my 3rd line to be the clam and steady defensive line. Hecht is a decent 2-way player.....Neids and Grier are both sound defensively as well. If I need a line to calm things down and just keep things steady, this is the line I put out there. Hecht, Neids, Grier......PUT IT TOGETHER AND LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

Your 4th line in the energy line........the line that gets things going when needed. Well, McMuscle, Gaustad, and Kaleta are perfect for this. They have a defined role so PUT IT TOGETHER AND LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

So, my lines, for now (until Pommer is healthy) would be read like this:

26-9-63
42-19-21
55-20-25
8-28-36

As I mentioned, this team lacks talent to begin with. But the line they have been experimenting with are just crazy and take away from the skills that each player brings to the table. I realize that sometimes things just don't go well and sometimes lines or players have a rough go of it, but to change lines just about every period, sometimes twice, is just crazy. PUT LINES TOGETHER THAT MAXIMIZE EACH PLAYER'S TALENTS AND LEAVE THEM ALONE. It may take a while for them to gel. There may be some growing pains. But you have to be patient (multiple games together) before making any changes. If you go multiple games with the same lines and you need to tweak things, fine......JUST DON'T OVER-DO IT.......If you want to drop Stafford out when Pommer gets back, fine......Just don't take your offensive, skill guys and waste them with defensive players. Not only are you hurting the offensive player playing him with defensive guys, but you are hurting your defensive guys by playing them with a guy that really isn't a good defensive player to begin with and a guys that is trying to score. You hurt everyone when you try to fit a square peg in a round hole. Offensive, creative guys need to play with other offensive, creative guys. Defensive guys should play with other defensive guys and your energy line should have a defined role.......go out and hit and create energy.

The lines I created above will do what I have said. If you want to swap a couple of offensive guys, fine.....But keep offensive guys with offensive guys. If you want to swap a couple of guys on the bottom 2 lines for some reason......fine.....But don't over think it.

TORONTO (Oct. 27) — This was one of the great calamaties in recent NHL history.

Yeah, yeah, I know… I’m don’t usually blog after a Leafs’ win, but I’m so damned pissed off at the way the Blue & White stole two points from the Florida Panthers, who played a classic road game and were easily deserving of a victory at the Air Canada Centre last night.

Rumors have Colton Orr attending the Argos’ mid-afternoon practice today — chiefly to show Jim Barker and his staff the football block he used to obliterate Scott Clemmensen on the winning goal with 8:58 left in regulation. It’ll be amazing if referees Stephen Walkom and Francis Charron can look in the mirror after this grand larceny… one of the most abhorrent, vile, revolting missed calls I can ever remember.

And, the fans at the ACC — you sheep; you goats; you clapping seals… instead of booing the officials for such ineptitude, you dance around as if your team deserved the goal and the win. It’s amazing you nitwits can live with yourselves.

Anyway, I’m out. This was just awful. Go ahead and gloat until Thursday night, when the Bruins maul Phil Kessel the way they did last season. Then you’ll see a REAL blog!

WOW

when i read this i thought, what an amazing and hilarious fake howard berger blog. it reeked of a sarcastic post by the anti-berger crowd (read hockeybuzz readers without TML envy).

then I thought, lets see if he actually did post something. Unbelievable!

Just when I thought there was no worse form of the written word than Eklund's daily virtual diarrhea, Howard Berger emerges in the 2010-11 season as the next rising star.

P.S. Today I have spoken with Howard Berger. Howard Berger put up a blog this morning that was intended as satirical in connection with his previous two blogs, and it was removed by me because the blog was misconstrued and several people in the comments were out of hand in their responses so I decided it was best to simply blow it up. It became a streetfight between Howard and the Leaf fans and I stepped in to break it up. I appreciate both sides of this argument. Howard has been here since day 1 and while I dont agree with him all the time I do respect him. Leaf fans are among the most passionate and best hockey educated who view the site and I respect their views as well. It was just obvious in this case that neither side could understand the other so I felt before the whole thing got to bloody to end it. I apologize if you were offended by either the blog or the comments. Thanks, ek

Buffalo pizza is a cross between NYC pizza and Chicago pizza. Some good places to go are Bocces, DiPaulos, St. Angelos, Ginos, Milanos, La Nova, Just Pizza, pretty much any place but Pizza Hut.
