Nicely put. Seriously you are dead on. women can be awesome in media without being men. They should be women, because frankly, we as a society are bettered by a different angle to view stuff from. especially sports which are covered way too often the same exact way. there are great men reporters who offer other perspectives as well. this is what I look for when I hire people at Hb. i look for people who have something to say. people who can “show me” a game instead of “telling me” a game. i saw it, now I want to see how you saw it.

i find, for whatever reason, this to be a strength of the women i have worked with. It’s also tied to strong personalities. i hired people like Julie Robenhymer and Dee Karl because they are going to tell me what they saw. Not what everybody saw. What they saw. the same thing goes for men on the site like Jon Jordan or Eric Engels….

and your ability to do this is unquestioned. It’s why I was thrilled to have you co-host the winter classic podcast with me and why I follow your stuff. i had ZERO interest in MMA, but I like to see how you see it. You made MMA real to me because you were real. That is a gift.

Finally, the more unique you are, the more you break away from the pack, the more real you real you become, the more successful you are doing your own thing… the more crazies yiu will attract. I know a little bit about this. . I have almost 25k twitter followers and it baffles my mind. However, i have talked to some web celebs far bigger than i am..people with over 100k followers, and they have taught me two basic rules.

#1 For every single jealous idiot who writes something nasty about you there are thousand or more people enjoying your work..it’s very true.

#2. ignore, ignore, ignore.. It’s hard because we are people, but these trolls have found the only way to lift themselves up is by pulling others down. The crab theory…one crab in a bucket climbs out, 2 or more in a bucket and none can escape because the crabs will keep pulling the ones who do try to escape back in.

Fred Shero, one time Flyers coach was known for his sayings and he said, “to avoid criticism simply do nothing and say nothing.”

In closing metricjulie….you are one talented person who shares more than your thoughts about MMA or hockey on your site and twitter feed. i follow you because of the whole picture.. You write in a way that draws me in…and THAT my friend means one thing…

You have found something that works. YOUR VOICE. And finding your own voice is the hardest thing for anyone to do. Cherish it. trust it. Allow your voice to be that of a woman who knows her poop. Because that is exactly what you are.

Cheers,
ek

I would really like to know, if he can see how great of a storyteller women like Julie can be. Then why did he try and shove her done everyones throat with a Porno entrance.

Why does he have a group on his twitter called "the Women of hockey".

Does he really need to point out that they are women, I think the general reader could tell.

it's like pointing out you have a black friend, is the black part necessary.

My favorite thing is how he mentioned Julie and Dee Karl as if it's a good thing to have those two on your site.

Your 2010 UFA/RFA Rumor Chart Update

I have been holding off on reporting this one....obviously I have been insinuating it...

It was first told to me as a speculative/theory about two weeks ago...but now I am hearing it from others as well..If nothing else it is interesting to say the least.

Here is the scenario as it appears to be starting to come together.

1. The Devils want to keep Kovalchuk.
2. Martin Brodeur is not a given to keep playing much longer, and will be hired the second he retires to work in the Devils front office.
3. Kovalchuk would consider staying if the Devils would go out and get Semin to play with him.
4. Brodeur would agree to play one (possibly 2) years in Washington. Firming up their goaltending situation and making the Caps the HUGE favorite to win a Stanley Cup. Then he could return to work for the Devils, who would be in a much better situation.
5. Semin is a great player, but the Caps are not opposed to moving him for Brodeur. Interestingly, the Caps signed him to a very short deal.

So there it is. I am working on another update this afternoon on the Leafs and Hawks...

When you become a Hockeybuzz.com Season Ticket Holder you not only get full, unlimited access to The 2010 UFA/RFA Rumor Chart you get other great benefits including (but not limited to):

BTW, have you confirmed the spelling of "Crimsoninja"...........pretty sure it's two words or something like a mashup????

It's my last name, you idiot
- Crimsoninja

Yeah, I'm sure it is. Funny that Crimsoninja returns zero results from 411.ca and it's USA counterpart.
