There is like 5 posts of tool quoting sens fans saying lazar is way better prospect than nylander, including one from dops...... Dops comes back with "I don't remember that happening, it's not true it didn't happen"

may be of of the most dumbest things on here, and that's saying a lot.

Are you retarded? Can't read? Too lazy to look back 5 posts?

he might eventually be better, but right now it's not close. lazar is a complete player, even the pro toronto media (like o'neill and ward) were praising his game last night. they said nylander has potential and skill, but isn't close to being ready yet. even when he reaches his potential, nylander is unlikely to be anything but a point producer, lacking the "overall game", where lazar has tons of offensive upside to go along with the physicality and 2-way game.

so, i stand by my . he might eventually be better, but right now lazar is clearly the better player.
- sensarmy_11

Kind of funny to hear TSN broadcast crew rave about the complete player that Lazar has become, far beyond what you would expect for his age. And, they talk about Nylanders lack of physical presence to play at the NHL level. Yet, the koolaid brigade proceeds to anoint William as the next coming without regard to just how hard it really is to get to the next step.

You totally missed the point. But that does not surprise me.

The SHL is NOT as good as preparing players for the NHL than the AHL or CHL.

Big ice vs Small ice......... No hitting vs hitting etc etc.

Nylander would be better served playing in the AHL than the SHL, if he has any aspirations of playing in the NHL.

The Leafs issue isn't goaltending anyways. There are other players around that spot that could have been picked.

Bernier is a stud.

I know you don't think much of Bernier, but before the Leafs traded for him he was one of, if not the most highly touted young goalie in the NHL. I heard for years in LA what a future star he was. Last season he posted a .923 save % facing the most shots in the entire NHL.

Oddly enough just when Lazar was a Sens prospect. It's not something you hear much of anymore except in hilarious retrospectives.

Comparing an 18-19yr old playing in a jurnior league with mediocre stats to 17-18 yr old with record breaking stats playing against men. they thought the older player with weaker stats was better.......but leaf fans kool aid

how do you figure? lazar's stats in the WHL are significantly better than nylander's stats in Tier 2 SHL (which is where he played a majority of his time)...and in his 22 games in the actual tier 1 league, he had 7 pts.

he'll be a good player, but he hasn't shown any more potential than lazar.

well then, i guess most of the people in the leafs threads must be delusional. i figure at least 80% of them think phaneuf is very overpaid, and of those 80%, at least half want him off the team.

but keep telling yourself he's worth 7 mil until 2021. that's a little less than weber and suter make, the same amount that doughty makes, and more than chara, pietrangelo, keith, mcdonough, girodano, karlsson, subban, OEL, yandle, girardi, etc.

the players who make more, or the same as phaneuf, are LIGHT YEARS better than him. and there isn't a single player on the list that he makes more than, that I, or most NHL GMs, wouldn't take ahead of phaneuf.

jesus, the guy was rated BY HIS PEERS, as the most overrated player in the league.

but, you enjoy him for the next 8 years

subban is gonna get pretty much the same deal that karlsson and pietrangelo got....especially when you consider that he hasn't been as good this year as he was last year.

he'll get 7-8 years, and between 6.5-7.

your claims of 8-9 mil are just stupid.

the cap isn't going up anywhere CLOSE to enough to make subban earn 2-3 mil more than guys like karlsson, pietrangelo, and doughty.

but by all means, repost this when he signs his deal. it will be fun to throw it in your face.

the guy gets benched fairly regularly (given his status on the team), and is rarely supported publicly by his coach or gm alike. they've already shown they're more than willing to play hardball with him................so why on earth would they cave, and make him the highest paid d-man in teh league, as an RFA.

your logic is incredible.

He is going to have his work cut out for him, with all the players with long term, un-tradeable contracts, who have not shown any inclination to play defensively to date.

You're not fooling anyone, you still live in your mom's basement.

Now push away the bowl of cheetos, and take look at the horsecrap team that Ottawa hammered tonight, and cry in the beer you snuck out of mom's fridge and wash down the crow you had for supper tonight, and cheer on the Canucks so that they too will pass the joke of a team from toronto in the standings.

What a joke the leafs are, nothing but a basement dwelling team.

So much great to go with the phanuef trade:

He's gone
Didn't have to retain salary to get it done
sens fans talk how awful defensively he is and how untradable he is before the trade
He went to the sens

Most of the media are expecting significant changes to the Leaf roster and behind the bench. I do not expect a lot of change. My guess is they will try to package Phaneuf but will not find a dance paertner.

I'm not saying JVR's contract alone, is bad. I just added it to the list of players, with long term contracts the leafs have locked up.

I also pointed out that both Kessel and JVR's contracts are the only two that are tradeable, as the others, in my opinion, are not.

This was missed, by the low information leaf fans here.

Point being, they can't trade the under achievers because of their long costly contracts, therefore they would have to trade other players, if they wanted to get out from under the cap restraints all these contracts collectively have put the team under.

But can you imagine them trading either Kessel or JVR?
I think not, therefore they become part of the problem in terms of the cap, and the lack of room to manoeuvre.

- Doppleganger

Alot of effort and wishful thinking. Too bad it was all wrong.
