I quote you about the sens goalies, and posted their cap hits. If you can't understand that you really are a (frank)ing moron.

Andersen? Anderson? Ever heard of autocorrect? My iPad changed it becuase I always type Andersen becuase he's the leafs goalie. I rarely mention Anderson becuase who cares.....

Yeah, I think you're right.

A good read on that issue, is Michael Traikos article in today's paper.

http://www.ottawasun.com/...-oilers-into-win-now-mode

he kinda insinuates that the leafs "window" for a Cup is between now and the end of the 2018 season

What Sens fans and more importantly sens management don’t seem to be considering is that they have about $3M actual dollars tied up in AHL goalies. I’m not sure why sens fans don’t want to talk about this. This is a big mistake for a budget team and is something that sens fans seem very sensitive towards.

It really is unfortunate. But somebody really screwed up.

Karlsson should be in the 11-12 range if Mcdavid gets 13+

they did. i think this is an important point.

looking at that roster full of junk players, you would think it shouldn't be anywhere near a cap team.

I guess you believe what you want to believe. Ottawa was close to the cap at the end of the regular season.

Ottawa decided to invest in a solid back up when they signed Condon.

Funny how you disparaged the signings that Dorion made coming up to deadline last year. But you all disappeared when the Sens went deeper and deeper into playoffs.

No veteran was more important to the Sens playoff run than Phaneuf.

- spatso

Then this, to me, would suggest that Phanoof's contract IS in fact, problematic to even the turds. And the statements about not caring about cap hit, is a lot of bullpoop.

You can't have it both ways. you can't claim you don't care about his cap hit, because you don't spend to the cap, then claim that you spend to the cap when you want to compete.

No, you're wrong again .......... 2.4 is the Cap hit, Cap hit does not matter to Ottawa, the actual money per season does.

I know it's hard to wrap your head around the difference between the two.

Condon is being paid $1.7 / 2.5 / 3.0 for and average of 2.4 aka Cap hit.

Also Andersen's Cap hit is the same as his yearly salary ... he signed for $5Million per season for 5 years ............ it was in all the toronto papers.

- D0PPELGANGER

You guys are contradicting yourselves constantly. You claim cap hit does not matter to the turds, only salary. and then in the next breath, you claim you have no issues burying salary in the minors.

Sorry, you can't have it both ways.

Cap hit is key to the Leafs. We don't care about paying Nathan Horton or whoever, so long as it's not a cap hit.

New era for NHL cap.

McDavid signs for $13.25m on Saturday. It appears that Draisaitl will get $9.5m. Buffalo needs to put a number in the range of $11.5m x 8 in front of Eichle...but they could hold off until the end of next season and see if the cost goes up or down.

Based on the trend Matthews gets $12.25. If he repeats his first year output Laine will come in at better number than Draisaitl at around $10m.

What the numbers tell us is the old model has been shattered and teams will be paying for actual output. Watch for the rush to pay UFA's start to dry up completely.

Another trollonto fan that does not grasp the fact that Cap Hit does not Matter in Ottawa ......... actual dollars being paid out matters.

That may change in a few years, but for the past decade, Cap Hit is not a factor when your team is well below the Cap ceiling.

It's math, and even I can understand this.

- D0PPELGANGER

Well then you should have an issue with the fact that you're paying goalies to sit in the minors!!!

However, I will point out to you again, the turds are reportedly shopping Phanoof. And can't get any takers. So yes, that impacts the turds. They're stuck with him.

Really, best Dman on the planet and a team that went to the ECF.

Great group of rookie prospects coming in and upwards of $20m coming off the books from season end.

Pretty sound job of asset management if you ask me.

this is typical foolish senator summer speak. Nobody left these boards- at least not as obviously as you did after the Senators got eliminated.

We continued to laugh at how senators fans refused to spend money on what they knew was an inferior product- even though it's clear that that was likely the last time in a long time they'd get to see their team in the playoffs(even if it was undeserved).

I think it's a terrible waste of your mind to not even consider that Ottawa lucked into their (wasted) 28th pick. You should keep your ears to the ground! Lots of rumblings in the NHL that when Dorion gets fired- it's unlikely anyone will even give him a shot as a scout, based on the job he's done. I'm not saying this is true, but these are the rumblings from people in the know!

This is a really weird statement!

Neither San Jose nor LA made it to the ECF, and none of the teams that did have an enviable prospect pool.

What team are you talking about?

I think you raise an important issue. What sens fans and more importantly sens management don’t seem to be considering is that they have about $14M tied up in in 2 ufa players; and this won’t be resolved for 5 years. I’m not sure why sens fans don’t want to talk about this. This is a big mistake for a budget team and will handcuff the team as they try to adjust to the new model.

It really is unfortunate. But somebody really screwed up. The only saving grace is the sens have no good young players to pay. Perhaps in 5 years they will.

I think Dorion is actually really smart in this - going out of his way to ensure he has no players that would warrant a large pay raise.

If you're not trying to win, you don't have to pay! No wonder Melnyk keeps him employed!

I don't believe the Sens ever intended to see both Phaneuf and Methot go. I do believe they wanted to move the salary for one of them.

I think moving Methot was a difficult visual. Local boy, loves Ottawa, just built new home and just had a new baby.

But let's be honest Phaneuf is the better Dman by a good deal. He is the same age as Methot and is in great shape. Commentary during the playoffs was that Phaneuf was playing up to play in Calgary.

I understand the difficulty Leaf fans have with Phaneuf.

There are no UFA's of Phaneuf's quality available.

The Sens are better for having Phaneuf.

The Leafs are lesser for not having a character and quality like Phaneuf.

This is an issue for Leaf media and fans. Your all going to have to learn to deal with it.

Matthews and Eichel are probably close to the same
