Successful teams need to go near cap and scale back in subsequent years.

Sun report this morning says Sens have two best players outside NHL in White and Chabot.

I would have liked the Sens to keep both Methot and Phaneuf.

But, you have to trust your process. In year 1 Dorion and Boucher bring the Sens to the ECF. Let's see what happens next year.

As Boucher laughingly said, it is not Karlsson that moved, it was Erik Karlsson's partner.

My report says they are not the best players outside of the NHL.

Pretty sure Dorion is going to look to the UFA market at someone like Dmitry Kulikov or Michael Stone..........

I saw the Michael Stone speculation. Right handed shot which is needed. Karlsson and Ceci are only other right handlers. Boucher wants 3 rights and 3 lefts.

Everyone saw how well Ben Harpur played at end of season. But how good is the 6'6" left shooting Dman. Harpur played on a defensively challenged Binhampton team that ended the season with an accumulative plus/minus of -332. Playing with guys that were -20 and -30, Harpur completed the season with a plus/minus of 0.

I wonder if the Sens see Harpur, who is a very strong skater and puck handler, as Karlsson's primary partner to start season?

- spatso

I watched Ben Harpur in Guelph.

Good luck.

Jimmy Vesey had better numbers than White in U.S. College.
Chabot played Junior in the Q.

...So they are better than Hischier and Patrick and all the other players in junior, and the ahl and the K and Sweden and Finland etc. etc. etc. etc.

Good lord.

You give Sens fans a bad name.

By the way, the Leafs had one of, if not, THE best rookie crop(s) ever, and that is not the opinion of some Ottawa Sun hack, it is FACT, and even the leafs didn't have the top 2.

well-deserved. I cannot imagine trying to focus on my job going through what he went through. On the other hand, I am guessing he is more passionate about his job than I am about mine

combined plus minus...not only is the stat weak you combine it to make it a mega dumb stat

if a goal is scored 5v5, the players get a -1 each...its still 1 goal not a -3 for a line. its a -1 for the line total

Funny how Leaf fans choke over the SENS ECF run.

Leafs have lived for so long as losers they have lost connection with the importance of the scoreboard and standings. There are known acceptable measures that are used for interpreting the meaning of outcomes.

Perhaps we need to give Leaf fans a chance to catch up and remember that the final score matters.

Yes. And, the Sens took Pens to double overtime in game 7 of ECF. A fabulous year.

So according to the scoreboard the sens lost.

But you are not basing how the year went on the scoreboard.... because the scoreboard says the sens lost.... hmmmm

which is it?

Watching Ben Harpur in Guelph, in 2015, as a Junior, is exactly the same as watching him in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs, after two seasons in the AHL.

It is all about scoreboard. The Sens had a fabulous playoff run. They won more playoff games than they lost. In the last game, game 7 of the ECF they lost to the Pens in double overtime. A wonderful game, a wonderful series and a spectacular playoff run.
