Sens really do have a goldmine developing on the backend.

Karlsson is the cornerstone.

Chabot will make the team out of camp and will get lots of playing time. I think Harpur also makes the team out of camp. He was very strong in the games he played against the Rangers during the playoffs. Makes you wonder why he did not get more regular season play. Consensus was Claesson was the Sens 3rd best Dman during playoffs. He got better every round. I see him playing lots of minutes next year.

Out of Ceci, Phaneuf, Methot, Borowiecki and Wideman; one goes to Vegas, two play for the Sens next year and two get dealt before the expansion draft trade deadline. (I really hope they keep Phaneuf and team him with Chabot).

LOL, yeah, Wideman, Boriwiecki, Ceci. the Sens really turn out quality crap.

Perhaps Pierre Dorion had you in mind when he was talking about watching guys speed down the boards and get drilled by Borowiecki. After that they become a lot more tentative.

Every team needs a Borowiecki or a Methot or a Phaneuf that is ready to pound guys coming through the neutral zone. Here is the exact quote, I love it

“… I want to punch our analytics people on a daily basis because they come to me with stuff that when they tell me that [Borowiecki]’s no good, I say ‘why don’t you go on the ice with Boro and tell me how much fun it is to get hit ten times in a row?’ Guys go the other way sometimes, but analytics can’t tell you that.”

like this:

I can see the fear they strike.

ps - sorry couldn't find anything of Borowiecki. I don't think he has any career highlights.

Please explain how the same line up that lead the league in loser points, and backed into the playoffs, are somehow going to "go further next year"???

Who are they adding to the lineup to improve it? Will it be some UFAs? Are they going to make a big trade?

If not, then will the same lineup, that vastly overachieved, feasted on opponents back up goaltenders, and had the easiest schedule in the entire sports world, had the most luck of any team on the planet ........... just how will they be any better than last season? Do they expect all these fluky breaks that happened last season to repeat themselves next season?

- D0PPELGANGER

Maybe they win more of those overtime games and get less loser points and more extra points? Do you assume that's impossible?

Neilson is a long ways out and no way ahead of Chabot in any way at all.
Dermott is closer, but I would trade both of them for Chabot and add something.

If he is not a top 4 D in the NHL is would be shocked

- senstroll

as i said, they're all 2/3 D in the making.

Nielsen was the better dman for the first half of the Marlies season. It was rather impressive how those 2 held down the fort for the Marlies, in what was considered among the tightest defense in the AHL. I wouldn't underrate what they accomplished, in a professional league, as rookies.

Keep in mind, the Leafs drafting and farm club has been a total goldmine the last 3 years.

Sens have 4 Dmen prospects that would start for the Leafs next year. Only two will make the jump to the Sens.

White will start the season in Ottawa next year. Minimum of three rookies start the season with Ottawa (Chabot, Harpur, White).

- spatso

Who would the 4 be? And who would they replace on the Leafs blueline please?

They wouldn't necessarily have 1. If theyre smart, they actually give some of these kids a year in the AHL. But they probably need the cheap salaries on roster.

Harpur has been developed carefully through the minors.

Englund was the captain of the Swedish national junior team, he has spent a year in the AHL.

Jaros is a Slovak that they put in the Swedish premier league for a year and he will play in the AHL next year.

Chabot is a protege.

I don't have the quite the confidence you do, but he does look like a good prospect, better than our D prospects.

no I dumped on him when you compared him to giroux.

pagiroux is nothing special. undersized 30 point pests are pretty easily replaceable. you guys may like him but the reality is you can pick up a better player in free agency at league minimum.

Don't be.

Nobody outside this board knows about your embarrassing decision to cheer for the Sens.

Unless you told them? In that case, sorry man. We all make mistakes. Yours is more stupid than most, but I am sure your loved ones will forgive you, maybe; Yeah, probably, I think.

Most of my family still think that I am primarily a Leaf fan. I still am the butt of many jokes. Most of them would be highly annoyed to hear that I made the switch a few years ago. They so love to skewer me on each new Leaf collapse.

As you know, I don't mind the Leafs at all and I had decided that if the Leafs won (Washington) and Ottawa lost (Boston) I would flip my pennant to the Leafs for their playoff run....but, alas, it was not to be.
