No denial does not work that. It necessitates a high degree of rigidity and control. The key to denial is that the person must believe exactly in what they are saying. Denial is self delusion because the emotional pain is too deep to absorb.

sounds about right.

If the playoffs started today I really feel like the Leafs would mop the floor with the Sens in five.
- Cape Breton Bruins

It's the only downside of the possibility they don't make the playoffs. They're easy pickings. I don't really want to play the Bruins. If they can hold on, and keep the third seed, it suddenly becomes a very distinct possibility the Leafs make the conference finals.

Grow up! Hockey is always about scoreboard and standings.

How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when ignore the things that really matter. It is about who scored the most goals. It is about the standings. Leaf fans having been living with so much nonsense for so long that they make up their own alternative facts and pretend that they measure success differently.

It is actually amusing to see them search for credibility in the peripheral margins of relevance.

scoreboard matters!

pretty sure this is a thread full of leaf trolls trying desperately to make people think the sens suck, while the non troll leaf fans on the main blogs actually realize that Ottawa has a good team.

it's SOOOOOO obvious that it drives you crazy that Ottawa is winning..........and it makes me smile every day.

Delayed gratification and the craving for external excitation can combine and result in problematic outcomes. Leaf fans have a history of being premature speculators intent on wanting to experience the event prior to the event having actually occurred.

Leafs swept the Bruins this year but the Bruins do have lots of guys with playoff experience. Would come down to Rask .vs. Andersen imo.

Probably a seven gamer.

Think about it.

Both Ontario teams have the same number of points, have played 77 games (as have Tampa) ............ and you're saying that only Ottawa needs to start worrying......... toronto can just as easily be caught as Ottawa can, in fact the Lighning would need to beat both Boston and the leafs if your dream ending to the season were to happen ........... and it's possible.

Granted, the Senators are now missing their three top D Men, one of which is their top point scorer, PP QB, league's top shot blocker and most likely a Norris candidate and maybe even a Hart Candidate............

If Ottawa is incapable of burying the puck, or keeping it out, their current position in the standings is irrelevant. It doesn't matter that they're just one point behind the Leafs.

Also, the reason Leafs fans keep making fun of the Sens for losing non playoff teams is wishful posts like this, that assume the Sens are going to automatically do well against teams lower in the standings, and the Leafs will struggle against harder teams, without weighing how well the teams have been playing of late.

The Leafs, Boston, and Tampa are some of the best teams in the league right now.

Ottawa is one of the worst. And don't pretend the injuries to the defensemen are the reason. The underlying stats have been calling for a regression all season, and this collapse started before those injuries.

You'd think that with high end top 6 players like Kadri, bozak, and JVR; elite dmen like Reilly, Gardiner, and that Russian guy; a bona-fide #1 goalie like andersen; and the greatest group of rookies in the history of the universe that they'd AT THE VERY LEAST be able to be in a playoff spot...........

Well the Leafs haven't made the playoffs yet...
and they do have the toughest schedule ahead...

It is pretty damn funny to watch Systemtool own the Sens fanbase.

They still have some guys that can play a tough game. The Sens are soft. I'd rather a bunch of kids go against a soft team with little to no playoff success, then a veteran tough team with lots of it.

but i mean, as much as we're sitting here salivating at the thought of a sens first round matchup, so is Boston and Washington.

I like how he names two centres that would likely be 1-2 on the Sens, and laughs at them being considered "high end". I don't think any Leafs fan thinks Bozak is high end. In fact, I'll even concede that Turris might bump him... even though he's a minus 6 on a team that's supposed to be great defensively. But +/- doesn't really matter. It's not like he's one of their worst possession pla... oh.

Game 7 vs the Bruins, what could go wrong?

Funny thing I heard on the radio: Marner was 13 when that collapse happened(I think 14 makes more sense though). They were making the argument that there are very few players left on the team who'd still bare those scars.

I count 4 guys: Bozak, Kadri, JVR, and Gardiner. Insane turn over.
