Don't forget, the leaf trolls in this thread always claim that teams are "supposed to beat the teams below them in the standings" .......... The Blackhawks have the 4th best overall record in the NHL, Ottawa the 8th.......... so no big deal with the loss last night, as it's an out of conference game ....... and the three games vs the Habs, over eight days, beginning tomorrow, are way more important to Senator fans.

Last night's games just showed that Ottawa can play with the Best Teams in the League, and hold their own. Ottawa knocks the puck into it's own net last night, they hit a couple of posts, pucks hopping over sticks in front of the Chicago net when their goaltender was down and out ............. a couple of missed calls, a couple of questionable calls, these games happen to all teams .......... could have gone either way ........... but no one in Ottawa is complaining on how the Senators played, Chicago had few more bounces go their way than Ottawa did.

The Backhawks are now the hottest team in the NHL, accumulating 30 points since February the 2nd ........... Ottawa has only 27 points in the same time frame.

you sound a little defensive.

Also I remember Sens fans saying that they had an easier Schedule, lots of non playoff teams. And I said be careful what you wish for, because they are not always gauranteed wins.. which is the opposite of what you are saying Leaf fans said

Each team in a given division, play the exact same number of games vs the same teams ....... the exact same schedule (minus playing themselves) ....... the only variances are the number of back to back games, returning from road trips and playing a rested visiting team, and the number of 3 games in 4 nights.

Therefore no one team can claim that their schedule is vastly better or worse than another team's, in their division, as it pretty much balances out when you take into account the number of times a team benefits from the variances described above.

you know as well as I do, there are leaf trolls in this thread that always trash the Sens no matter what, it's burned into their DNA, and their default comment when the Sens lose vs a team below them in the standings is that they're supposed to win those games .... you know that, and I know that.

Right now the Senators are sitting pretty comfortably in a playoff position ....... the only way they they could be knocked out of the playoffs, is for two teams to catch and pass them in the conference ............ so the leafs (7 pts back) and either the Lightning or Islanders (8 pts back) ............. and Ottawa would have to collapse over the next 13 games and those are pretty long odds.

They also have the most home games, and the most games vs non playoff teams.

A few things:

1) It was a Sens fan (you?) who was happy about all the easy games coming up against non-playoff teams. That's what Leafs fans have been harping you guys on.
2) Ease of remaining schedule can differ wildly from team to team, especially at this time of year.
3) Beyond the simplistic look at what teams each team is facing, schedule difficulty can also vary based on how the schedule is laid out. Toronto traditionally is on the harder side of having to deal with back-to-backs, because of the amount of use the ACC gets(one of the disadvantages of playing in a city where things happen).

I'm fairly certain these points have all been explained to you on multiple occasions, but it seems to be in your DNA to ignore facts.

It's to be expected. His team's weak offense was on display last night(for their second loss in a row), and the rival team he knows is in a better position is back in a playoff spot, 1 season after finishing 30th.

He's rattled, and his troll response is acting up more than normal.

Look ......... it's always one of the leaf trolls that brings up " the Sens have/had an easy schedule" ............ and I explain, as I just did a few post ago, that each team has the same schedule vs the same teams, and the same number of games vs each of them.

then the leaf troll inevitably complains about how the leafs have more b2b games or whatever ........

each team has their share of arriving in another teams City, with the home team being rested, and vice versa.

It all balances out.

those leaf trolls should just stop complaining about their teams' schedule vs another teams' schedule.

We don't see the leafs as a rival to worry about, as they have no chance of catching and passing the Senators in the standings, and it would take astronomical odds for them to catch and pass the Bruins.

The best the the leafs can do, is four games and out vs the Metro winner.

So in terms of a "rival" it's next year for the leafs for Ottawa fans, we're concerned with the Habs, Bruins and the other top teams in the Conference, no the bubble teams.

i'm using "Rival" in the long-term sense of the word.

Leafs are the organization the Senators wish they could be. Bright future, with fanbase support that can actually fund an on-going push, rather than the flashes Ottawa can try and muster every decade or so, like the ill-concieved one we're seeing this season.

I feel this is why people like you and spasto(if you are different people), are so angry when it comes to the Leafs. Jealousy is a very destructive emotion.

I watched the sens in the 3rd period last night.

If they play like that every game, they may be the team that Tampa passes for the 2nd wildcard spot.

You mean the period where they more than doubled the Hawks in shots and held them to a single 5v5 shot?

Yeah, they were awful

Yes. The period where they barely had any scoring chances, because they don't have many legitimate scoring threats, and wound up taking some dumb penalties, and getting outscored 2-1.

This is why Corsi isn't used in a game-by-game basis. Over the course of a season, these games where you put up a lot of weak shots even out with the ones were you have lots of good scoring chances, and the result is a look at possession that isn't inflated by one-game anomalies like this.

our top prospect. Just gone.

Now we just have to hope that Leipsic and Kapanen, PPG in the AHL at age 22 and 20 can develop into something.
