guess they figured he was going to be taken for nothing in the expansion draft, so traded him to something for him ........... should have just left him in the AHL for the season, until he showed a significant improvement in his game.

Dorion is pretty cool. He will have a full roster of picks by the time he gets to the draft this summer. I know that Boucher is absolutely thrilled by the additions to line up. He wanted more speed and grit in the line up.

Boucher believes everything is about speed. Sens already play with good speed and they just got a little faster.

I was not happy with the Burrows extension but was pleased to discover that the guy is a nutrition and fitness advocate. Next year he will be fine. But, I wonder about second year of deal. He will replace Chris Neil on the roster. We will see.

Best interview of the day was Pierre McGuire who talked about the Sens deep pool of outstanding prospects. He said that Colin White is the next Patrice Bergeron. "He is that good" McGuire stressed. He also said that Logan Brown will play top NHL minutes and that Thomas Chabot is going to be one of the best Dmen in the NHL.

Ottawa was able to make the moves they did today because they know what is coming in their system.

this morning on the radio he said Arizona got fleeced in the Hanzel trade

there might not be anyone more out of touch with whats going on in the NHL today than Mcguire. He is awful at what he does in analyzing players and trades.

Let him talk about where a player went to school and who is second cousin is married to..but stop asking him about actual hockey stuff

I actually don't mind McGuire at all.

Six weeks ago he said the Habs were slipping and everyone else was coming on. He believes that the Sens are the dark horse team in the East. He also says that many insiders believe that the Sens will continue to improve over the rest of the seasons.

So, I have lots of reasons to like his opinions.

Looks strong to me.

Hired a great coach.

Has made some very effective adds to the team.

Even though Murray pulled the trigger we know that it was Dorion who was pushing the Phaneuf deal. Phaneuf, as you know, has been awesome on the Sens defence. A real warrior who has been there for his team mates every night.

Lots of teams would love to have that kind of character on their back end as we head towards the post season. Yesterday Dorion was able to pick up a second to offset the second they gave up to get Phaneuf.

No, Dorion is having a great year.

No biggie. 26 is still prospect age for the sens. 32 is just entering your prime.

The Sens are fairly average when it comes to the underlying data. Its hard to see how they are in the position they are currently, but here we are.

We will see how the moves affect the team, but Bad GMs can have some success (See Nonis and the Leafs playoffs), but what they cant see is whats actually happening and then make moves based on a small amount of success thats not really built on something strong.

So the Sens are an average team who essentially is pushing all in, to just make the playoffs (Dorions words).. selling some futures to try and guarantee the team makes the playoffs.. those are generally bad ideas that mess up a team long term.

Also trumpeting Prospects like White and Chabot as future superstars (either the GM or Owner said that) .. is not a great idea either... basically what Dorion/Melnyk said is they can sell off other picks/prospect because they have guaranteed stars in white and Chabot. ... that would worry me as a fan

Sens are lucky Stone was not out long.

Micah Blake McCurdy‏ @IneffectiveMath
Hard to overstate the importance of Mark Stone to the Senators. With him, they take 55% of the shots, without him, 45%.

although he may have had a concussion and they just said the neck thing so he wouldnt miss time
