No I haven't been in a few years. Last I went was 2015. 2016 I was getting married in May, we actually decided to go on our honeymoon before our wedding. We went to Australia, Bali, and Fiji in February. We went before the wedding because if we went after it would be their winter. I wasn't going every year before that either. 2013 I took some time off work and went to Thailand in January. I was there when the guys went on that trip. 2012 I went on the trip, it was in Switzerland.

You sure do a lot of traveling, must be well paid for whatever it is that you do.

A few years back, we brought in a spare goaltender for a game in my Seniors league, who organizes a hockey trip every winter, to a tournament in Füssen, in southern Bavaria, and was looking for players interested in going. I thought about it for about week, and decided against it as going an a "guys sports trip" is not the same if you don't know the group of guys, as I assume you did on your trips .......... but sure sounded like a good time.

I'm pretty fortunate to be paid very well yeah.

but I also don't think it's as hard to travel as it used to be. and I think the older generation has yet to fully realize it. none of these things are as costly as you might think.

my trip to London was 600 bucks per flight round trip tax in. and that was for direct. if you're willing to stop over and tare a 10 hour flight you can get it as low as 300. I regularly see flights for under 500 to various places in Europe. they're there if you look.

both me and my wife have friends that live in London. she actually used to live there. so we have free places to stay. a friend of mine and his wife are going to dubai for vacation the second week we are there and have lent us their place. otherwise London can be expensive. but this is a discount vacation for us.

once you're in Europe it's cheap to get around. Ryanair or easyJet can get you all over for as little as 10 dollars a flight. just got to be careful as they have restrictions and will bill you for things like luggage or checkin not done online. but if you pack light and know what you're doing getting around is cheap. (same thing applies to Asia with tiger air, air asia, and virgin atlantic).

with airbnb, staying somewhere is cheap too. and you end up in an appartment which means you don't have to eat out every meal. sometimes we stay in hotels but often it's better to stay airbnb. you find great places (plus homeaway.com or vrbo.com)

our canary islands stay will not be expensive either. it was 150 for round trip flights for us. 700 for an appartment for a week. and Spain in general is not expensive. I rented a mini Cooper for 80 bucks for the week. so food and booze plus some entertainment.

travelling is not as cost prohibitive as it was 20 years ago. you can do amazing things for reasonable prices.

our trip to Bali was amazing and insanely cheap. you can get a driver to pick you up at your hotel and drive you around for a full day, gas and car included, for 50 bucks. we basically got chauffeured around the whole country.

Those are great tips. It's been about 25 years since I've been to Europe, lived there for almost 10 years, and been back for 3 long vacations, and leased cars to travel each time. Airbnb was not a thing then, but staying in smaller locations at small inns (Gasthaus) were really inexpensive back then. Some Countries were real bargains pre-Euro, as the exchange rate was much better. In Italy we stayed in the Best hotel we could find in Lido De Jesolo (near Venice) Hotel Delle Nazioni (https://www.booking.com/h...ni-jesolo.html#map_closed) which was $28 per person a day, including all meals.

All my traveling in the last 25 years has been in North America, mostly in the USA.

it makes no sense...they played a non playoff team

should have been an easy win with their soft schedule

Yes, it should have been a win, perhaps not easy, but they carried the play ........... but a brutal giveaway by our third string goaltender handed the point in hand, at the end of the game, to the Panthers.

Well you should branch back out. Europe is so opened up these days, and with all the developments like I mentioned, you can do phenomenal things.

Italy is my favourite Euro country to visit. I've done the entire country for the most part, over the course of 2 trips, total about 5 weeks between the two. The friend I'm visiting in London got married in a centuries old villa near Florence (villa Pitiana), that was my first trip. I'll be going back too, as my wife's childhood friend married a man from Bari. And they just moved to another well known Italian destination, can't remember the name. Something a la mer maybe? Houses on the top of a cliff that leads down to the ocean. I love Italy. There is no better place in this world than the Amalfi coast, in my opinion.

There are other countries that are quite cost-efficient. Portugal is cheap as hell. Greece is too these days. Spain is reasonable. I want to go to some of the beaches in Croatia. Somewhat less busy and taken over with tourists, which are often nicer, a better experience, and less expensive all at the same time.

Croatia is packed with tourists (the beaches)

they aren't really sandy beaches - just really smooth and small rocks. Also, the smell of pine trees next to the beach is so strange.

No. Wasn't aware he was in the Swiss league at one point. I was playing at a slightly lower level. And by slightly, I mean yugely. I've done some tours on a mens league tour group. I've played in various cities in Switzerland (Zurich, Ambri, Zug, and a few others), Italy (4 or 5 cities in the north around Milan, Turin, etc), the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Tilburg), Belgium (Turnhout).

Kind of a beer drinking hockey playing tour of a bunch of mens league guys that get together and go play in Europe.

You guys are funny. Laine still leads all rookies in scoring despite having missed games due to confusion symptoms. Let's see what happens over the rest of the season. Great subject for debate.
