ahh, I see, it's the last part of his statement you take issue with, not the whole thing.

Sometimes it's hard to decipher what people less intelligent than yourself are trying to articulate.

- prock

everyone is less intelligent than you prock, as evidenced by your plethora of well though out and not at all trollish posts, so it must be a nightmare for you being unable to decipher what anyone is trying to say. poor guy

do tell.....how do they "honour it as their own"?

either they honour it.....or they claim it as their own.

by hanging the banners they are honouring the memory of a past franchise, not claiming it as their own.

well done though, just adding to the pathetic troll attempt. keep it up

- sensarmy_11

I don't know, hanging a banner in your building really does seem like you're claiming ownership of the championship.

But if you agree that the Sens have never won a cup, I'm good with that too.

I agree that this franchise has never won a cup.........but there is nothing wrong with hanging those banners and honouring a franchise that won quite a few cups back in the day. they should hang somewhere, and an NHL rink in Ottawa kind of makes sense.

I fully respect your take on this. I'm not sure why some insist on laying claim.

Well, my comments are based on some other Sens fans who present a different take than you do.

Well aside from cap issues and personal issues can you site why trading young players, picks and prospecs for guys in their 30s or soon to be, means something other than trying to win now?
- systemtool

To improve the team.
To acquire a player more suited to your teams needs.
To move out a player who will ask to overpaid, and get something in return for him.
To move an impending UFA who you don't want to sign for a player already on a contract.

I'm sure there are more reasons.

Getting veterans for younger players and assets. Trading picks and prospects for immediate help. Isn't that pretty much the only definition?
- systemtool

But you seem to think there is only one reason to trade away younger players or picks, to acquire an older player(s) ........ so let me ask you.....The leafs traded away Scott Harrington (younger) and a pick, to acquire Kerby Rychel (older) ........... was it to "win now"? The leafs traded away two picks, a first rounder & a second rounder, to acquire Frederik Andersen (older) and are now overpaying him (for five seasons) ........... was it to "win now"?

Sens have a history of honouring another franchise's history as their own.
- Feeling Glucky?

Same city, same name, NHL does not have a problem with it, only you do, where else would you suggest they hang them, St Louis?

...... get over it.

FYI, we now have a Flyers fan that has concluded that, given the choice, he'd rather Clarkson over Bobby Ryan.

That is, in fact, 2 votes for Clarkson, 0 for Booby.

Pretty sad that the leaf trolls on this site have moved away from trashing the Senators, who now sport the fourth best record overall in the NHL, and can now only focus on players, they have decided are "overpaid", the Banners hung in the rafters at the CTC, the lower than average attendance, the owner or whatever they can grasp at to make them feel some sort of solace, because once again, as in the seasons of the past decade or so, the Senators are on track to finish ahead of the leafs once again.

Who's moved away from that?

Still plenty of time for them to regress.

Leafs fans know this all too well.

It's just that there's so much to make fun of with the Sens that we gotta spread the love around.

1) zib > brassard. Doesn't improve teh team
2) Ottawa has a dearth of young talent up front. Doesn't suit team needs to replace zib with Brassard
3&4) I can agree here. Ottawa didn't trade Zib as a win now move. They have no intention of winning, only cutting costs.

You were trying to say something about the standings by muttering things about denying winnipeg their city?

you're blurting out nonsense again. you must be rattled. this is like the time you tried to tell everyone that expenses don't impact profit.

maybe you're having a stroke?

Very telling use of a gif.

Definitely rattled. I understand it's hard seeing a rival improving in a way your team won't for many years... we went through it with the habs... but you just gotta hold on hope that something will happen to Melnyk.

Hard to follow your lack of purchase. Semiotics is the study of signs and symbols. But signs are a highly complex subject in their own right. A sign can be a street light. It could be the red spots of a measles victim or it could be the hard swallow of a poker player when a good card is turned. In my case, the study of semiotics was a core requirement for reading ancient scripts. (Eg., three times Peter denied that he knew Jesus, a short while later Jesus says "on this rock" that he will build his church. So the rock takes on strong symbolic meaning, a sign. But what does it really mean? Peter just denied him 3x. He can't mean steady and strong like a rock as some people want believe.

Your far easier to read than most. So, your being confused by the Winnipeg comment struck me as a little odd for you. I know you get the point and normally you just let winning points pass without comment. Perhaps you were just momentarily startled by the comment?

kerby rychel is both younger and better.... he's 22 and harrington is 23.

slightly different than trading for a player many years older and in his decline.

whatevs. goalies are weird. take longer to develop and can last longer.

I believe the statement made was youth and picks for vets anyway. Anderson was hardly a vet. brassard is in his decline. very different.

you cut honestly look at the leafs, who had 10 picks in this year's draft, and think they are not in a youth movement.
