Don't forget, St Louis had to wait and extra two years for him to finish out his KHL Contract before he became available to them .......... something Ottawa was not prepared to do .......... but I've explained this to you before, right.]

yes I on9w about those trades. funny that you change the subject.

I wonder if st Louis regrets taking tarasenko and waiting those two years. or do you think they would have preferred ending up with turris? lol.

you should make up your mind though. are the sens in win now mode or not?

I lay claim to that moniker. I'm kind of proud that one stuck. it is pretty funny.

Ahead of Ryan this year in points too.

bobby Ryan is one of the worst contracts in the NHL. top 5 I'd say. he's a 29 goal low 50s point scorer in a wide open system. when playing d? 40 points? soft. one dimensional.
.I'd say he'd be worth 2.5M on the open market.

I said it way back then, and it's true..... worse contract than clarkson. clarkson total contract is roughly equal to the amount bobby ryan is overpaid.

Nobody was against the Bobby Ryan contract more than me.

If I remember you were pumping the idea that he would walk to Philadelphia as a UFA at the end of the contract. He is a nice guy, popular in the dressing room, great hands, good vision but he can't skate. Never, ever sign anyone over the age of 28 unless he has good skating mechanics. In the NHL today if you can't keep up you can't compete!

yes I recall. exactly what I said, is if they want to keep him, they have to massively overpay, and I highly doubt the Senators do that because they're cheap. so I thought he was as good as gone.

I was wrong. they WAY overpaid him. congrats?

it's one of the worst contracts in the NHL no doubt. given David clarkson is on LTIR I would take him on the Leafs before Bobby Ryan easily. you have to consider the assets it would require to get someone to take on Ryan and his contract.

but it's true. and has never been more true with Clarkson on the IR. having Clarkson on LTIR is more beneficial to an organization than having Bobby Ryan on the roster athe 7m.

I think if Columbus were to trade clarkson to Ottawa for Ryan, the Sens have to toss in a pick to get it done.

ah, leaf fans always focusing on how some players are overpaid ............. probably because they can't laud their leafs performance over that many teams, so they have to nit pick another teams contracts.

What about players that are underpaid? Is that not something also to be upset about?

Are ALL the players on the leafs paid exactly what they're worth? Don't they have over and under paid players on their roster?

For example, Andersen is way overpaid, the leafs are going nowhere fast with him as their starter over the next five years, cetainly not the Stanley Cup finals, they should get rid of him, but I doubt no other team wants a $5M backup.

I guess when your team has sucked for soooooo long, there's not much else to do except criticize the "off ice" issues of other teams ahead of yours in the division.

Does anyone really believe the Senator's GM is actively looking to trade away players solely because they're over paid?

GM's trade players who are no longer part of the teams immediate future plans, or when the returning player(s) is an upgrade over the player(s) a GM decides to trade.

Getting veterans for younger players and assets. Trading picks and prospects for immediate help. Isn't that pretty much the only definition?

Overpaid players aren't a big deal in Ottawa as long as the remaining salary is less than the cap hit. You know being cheap and all that.

Yea. They need to worry more about budget than cap. And I don't have much doubt that the remaining budget consists of nickels and dimes from Mrs Melnyks purse.
