Senators have developed a "wining culture" in their organization, and it really contrasts with the "losing culture" that the Oilers have instilled in their organization.

Senators get behind in games, and don't give up, they continue to push to win games, and the Oilers get behind by a couple of goals late in games, and pack it in and go through the motions and simply play out the remaining time.

It really was the best.

I mean he could have said they are trying to develop a winning culture and it would've been acceptable but nope.

Some teams, over the past decade, have developed a Tanking culture, in their organization, and it shows on the ice. This is not the case with the Senators, it would have been so easy to have thrown in the towel last season (around this time) but the Senators kept playing to win, right to the end of the season........ and they're doing so again this season.............. not saying that they'll catch lighting in a bottle again this season, but teams who are managed and coached to tank unwittingly might be instilling the wrong mindset with their young players........... this is not happening with the Senators, but as I pointed out in my original post on this subject, the tanking mindset was clearly evident with many young Oilers players, once they fell behind late in the game vs the Senators.

This is perhaps why you may have read a few opinion pieces about the need for a culture change in Edmonton, and potential trades to do just that.

Was never a big fan of Prince....... Spatso, a number of years ago called him the "sleeper pick" of the draft..........but I watched him play for the 67s and did not see what Spatso saw.

It was obvious that he fell down the depth chart this season, Dzingle and Paul have both passed him, and saw more playing time in the last month, and they recalled Pumpel, who was only sent down because he had a 2 way, and Prince had a 1way.

Heck, back in November they Dressed a Dman to play Left wing for a couple of games, while Prince sat in the press box for those games........so the writing was on the wall back then, and when given a chance to show he was worthy he failed to move up in the line up, so his lack of motivation was being questioned.

Pumpel was recalled to replace him, and his salary is higher than Princes' was.

All of them played well in their first game.

Hyman wasn't high up on the depth chart but he surprised and I thought he was excellent. Great forecheck & backcheck. Good offensive instincts.

Soshnikov was really similar. Good in both zones. Backchecked hard. Got skill.

Nylander - won more than half of the face offs, had some great vision and set up some nasty plays. Looked deadly on the PP

Kapanen - kid can dangle

Carrick - solid defender. Could be the guy to compliment Rielly.

Sens played a pretty good game last night, even though all they got was one point, a well earned one point.
