Sens are currently ranked 21st in wins.

That’s not very good. Pretty sure you need to win games in the playoffs.

Spazzy and doops fled this thread, with hopes we'd stop bringing up all the stupid things they've said, and started a new one... and I'm more than happy to let this one die

But this was a stupid move by the Sens. Duchene is an upgrade, sure, but a marginal one, and not worth what they gave for that upgrade.

I mentioned when the report that the trade fell through came out, that I was disappointed, but I'm pretty happy with how the weekend turned out.

Sens marginally upgrade their 1C, without addressing their biggest need, which is depth. Their D still sucks, they're still relying on an aging goalie.

And they're starting to bite into their future, and they've got Karlsson AND Duchene coming up for contracts at the same time.

As a Toronto fan, and someone who is partial to both Nashville and Colorado, this whole thing makes me very happy.

They're a great team

they saw our point of better situation. they took off in the middle of the night. i wonder who pmed who first and which one of them made the sandwiches for their escape trip.

sens first pick this coming draft is in the 4th round. thats awful management.

Just for the record I want it noted that I was very early in the calling of old geezer Markov to the Leafs. Too funny.

Yea but it’s worth it to marginally upgrade their offense, without improving their horrid forward of defensive depth.

Leaf fans are jealous they couldnt trade Kadri 2 firsts and a third for Duchene. watching Kadri under babcock...i think hes better than Duchene. Solid 2 way play against the other teams best. Point totals seem to suggest it.

Hainsey was a solid choice. Rielly has been great playing with him. You tried hard though with the markov troll, but like you often do, fell flat on your face when it didnt happen.

you guys have duchene instead but 2 firsts a 3rd and Turris might be the better option.

Always use Leaf summer talk to set up the season. Season starts, Leafs crap the bed and we get to watch the logical contortions of the same guys trying to explain outcomes.

Funny reading the current postings. You would not think that the Sens went to Conference finals and were the only team to give the Penguins a serious challenge throughs the playoffs. Ottawa is a team built to win.

We are only 6 weeks away from being able to talk scoreboard. However, I do encourage that you continue with the blue bluster and set up what might be the next great Leaf collapse.

dewshane is an upgrade on Turris..the Sens paid a premium to get that. They are in a win now situation so 1st rounders, 3rds and prospects are expendable.

imo in order for this deal to work out in the Sens favor a few things need to happen

-Make the playoffs this season
-Win at least 1 round
- sign MD to an extension when the time comes

If they dont sign him, maybe then trade him to get some futures back if the playoff stuff doesnt work out

- senstroll

Of course that will happen with all that cash that Melnyk has $10 million for eight years is a no-brainer. Think of all those sellouts they will have. And between Duchene and Ryan, they can take turns sh!tting the bed.

Did anyone else catch Coach's Corner last night during the Leafs game? I don't often watch the segment and don't always agree with Don but he's always been a big supporter of the armed forces and emergency services. Yesterday having been Rememberance Day, I decided to watch.

He made some very pointed comments about the virtual inevitability of the Sens moving to Quebec City. He cited the shameful representation of a fan base that couldn't fill a stadium for conference finals games (something entirely unheard of for any self respecting Canadian city) and the subsequent humiliation of having to tarp over the multitude of vacant seats.

He went on to explain that he didn't want to see them move when Ron said he'd rather see one of the sun belt teams (who also have historically pathetic numbers at the gate) go to QC. But why, Don asked, should Ottawa be allowed to stay when they aren't drawing? This was a salient point to make especially in light of the fact that the regular season games in mid November played in Stockholm actually sold out.

Not a good situation.

No and yes. Please refer to the end of the final full paragraph in my previous post for more details.

Further to the point Don was making regarding the imminent relocation of the Sens he mentioned the fact that they seem to be making staff and roster moves designed to make the team more palatable to Québécois sensibilities. Having a bilingual coach and acquiring a notable new player with a French name albeit not a true francophone seem to support that hypothesis.

Totally understandable. Internet connections have been spotty at best in the GTA for a couple of weeks. I think they should be good for the next few days at least. This should allow for plenty of opportunity to discuss the issues surrounding the impending relocation of the Sens to Quebec City as outlined by Don Cherry during the national broadcast on Rememberance Day.

As to why the regular season games being played before most people have even put snow tires on their cars, in Stockholm sold out, while in Ottawa they can't sell out playoff games it's important to look at the big picture.

It isn't as simple as Sweden's global reputation for being home to some of the most noteworthy parking lots on the planet. One also has to consider the lack of other quality sports options. With no CFL to draw fans away it is much easier to put butts in the seats. Or maybe the people of Stockholm are just bigger fans of the sport on par with that of the majority of Canadian cities.

The Redblacks may be done now (who the hell knows?) so that would mean nearly tens more fans at the Sens games!
