How is NYR in a serious cap crunch? They can extend Shesterkin today and it doesn't impact their cap space this year. Suppose they double his salary to $11M. They will need to find $5.5M space next season. Reilly Smith's $3.75M covers most of it, not to mention a rising cap. Walking away from Lindgren opens up another $4.5M.

Trouba already nixed a trade to Detroit. Moving him mid-season would be extremely difficult. That's something you do in the summer when more teams have cap flexibility. His wife's medical job placement is also over this year so moving him becomes easier.

Also, why is Pitt looking for a goalie when they are going to sell off whatever they can? I would watch Pettersson as the next to move. Maybe Grzelcyk or Beauvillier.

He would be terrible on the Penguins right now.

Patrick Roy always needed a good defensive team in front of him...Montreal in the 80's through the early 90's had one of the best defensive teams ever then Colorado was stacked both defensively and offensively when he was traded there.

That's why he had a hissy fit in Montreal, he couldn't handle the team not able to support him.

same could be said of Brodeur. He always had killer D in front of him.

Brodeur definitely had the trap system to help him in the early years, didn't play so well when they banned the system then bounced back a bit.

Only difference was Brodeur didn't cry and have a hissy fit when ever his team wasn't the best in front of him.

Roy...HOF goaltender, yeah his numbers speak for that, but one of the best? Not even close.

Hasek is the greatest of all time and it isn't particularly close.

Why would the Kings be interested in Trouba when they already have Edmundson?
