Montreal Has Called the Rangers on Lafreniere. (E3) Taking to a source this weekend there have actually been several calls going back to a year ago. The Rangers are in a tight spot with the former #1 pick.

Alexis' junior numbers are pretty similar to some guy who was drafted this year as then next greatest thing.

And when Bedard becomes a star and Alexa is bagging groceries at the Epecerie Richard you’ll see how much those numbers mean

I tend to agree with the other guy...Bedard won't be a flop by no means, but he will be a pretty big disappointment.

Give the kid top six minutes and some PP time and then see where he stands. When I watch him play the talent is obvious. If NY deals him the regret will hang around like a bad smell.

I think it’s tough to predict just how great he will be because of his size. He’s obviously so much better now than the competition in Juniors but can he continue to improve to the point of NHL superstardom? I think he might end up with a low ceiling of a guy like John Tavares who certainly is a star, but probably not to the level we thought when he was a 17 year old kid. And to your point if he turns out to only be as good as a Tavares or maybe a guy like even Mitch Marner he certainly will still be a “star”. But I think a lot of people are comparing him with the likes of McDavid and other true generational talents and that may not be where his finished product winds up

They’ve given him top six minutes and tried him on every line imaginable. Have you ever watched him play? He’s just not that good. He’s basically something in between Josh Bailey and maybe a guy like Louie Ericksson later in his career. You barely notice him when he’s on the ice.

and like the other young phenoms mentioned here - he was dominant in junior.

Yes I've watched him play. It was always third line minutes and he was lucky to get a sniff on the PP. He's increased his point totals by ten every season. Give up on him now??

Comparing Bedard to McDavid is a good sign of someone who doesn't understand the sport. And the term generational talent is so overused. In the last 50 years...

Bobby Orr
Gretzky/Lemieux (two talents that overlapped)
McDavid

That is all. Yzerman, Jagr, Crosby, Ovechkin, Lidstrom...amazing talent. But in 100 years this era will be summarized by the 4 names above.

Lafreniere is a wash. Someone may take a pot shot with him for a second round pick.
