No cap space and 5 centers already. Why in the world would they be interested in a 34 yo Center??????
The only good thing about this rumor is it's on here so it's probably not true. |

They didn't need centers 2 centers ago but here we are, so I could see it. Barzal in Calgary would be neat. |

I know it would never happen but it would be cool to see Backlund & Hanafin (with an extension) & Flames eating $1.0 mill each for this year for Barzal. That would be a hockey trade. |

Calgary is looking for homes for Backlund and Hanifin?
They should consider using a realtor.
Also, how is this news. Conroy came in and stated that he is opposed to losing UFAs for nothing. So if guys like Lindholm, Backlund, Hanifin, Tanev don't want to sign extensions then he would look to trade them. But the demand opens up considerably at the deadline, so no real urgency to give them away now. Lindholm as a rental would fetch an enormous haul. Cap hit is only $4.85M so by the deadline its almost nothing.
So again, I don't really view this as news. Conroy already publicly stated the plan. |

Problem is we have way too many pending UFA's going into this season. Lindholm, Hanafin, Tanev, Backlund, Zadorov, & Kyllington. Way too many to go into season with. What happens if they are in the middle of a wildcard race at the TDL, how does Conroy blow it up to that extent. Backlund, Tanev would make real good TDL rentals & get excellent returns when teams that are contenders are willing to pay higher prices for that "missing piece". Kyllington, not a big deal, he has a lot to prove after missing a whole year. Zadorov seems to want to stay & most fans want to keep him. Lindholm & Hanafin are the players that should be moved in the offseason. Yes both of them would get huge hauls at the TDL as well, but that is a real precarious way to go with that many players. |

Teams without $10 million in cap space available acquiring 2 expiring contracts. Not to mention the NMC in each contract |

Could always take some salary back in a deal to balance the cap a bit. |
