One player I really wanted them to target this offseason was Barbashev, but I have a feeling this playoffs is about to get him overpaid.

I know Dubas traded him late in his tenure in toronto, but Pierre Engvall is definitely a 3rd line guy I think they take a long look at. He's tall and fast. Fits the style of what Sully likes on the wing.

I liked this blog.

So the the overall differential is +9.40

I'd love to see how this looks for every team.

The biggest problem with Petry is that he is not as good as Matheson but costs almost $1.5M per year more. Viewed apart from the trade that brought him here he seems to be an average defenseman although definitely overpaid.

Hextall's excuse for making that trade was that he is supposedly good at protecting goalies. Maybe he thought "I can't upgrade in net but maybe I will upgrade the goalie's protection". I don't know - I am just guessing on that. If Petry can actually do this better next season then perhaps the trade will not look quite as bad (although it will never be justified).

I am hoping to see Carter gain much familiarity with the press box next season.

Tanger is actually a 6.3 and petterson a 3.7.

Why do you think that?

Their cap hits look correct to me.

In Dom's model Pettersson had a GSVA of 1.9, which would put him between 6.3 and 7.5 mill in contract value, closer to 7.5.
Tanger had a GSVA of 2.6 which puts him right around the low end franchise dmen valued at 8.9 mill. Not sure why Ryan put Letang a level up to 10.3 though.

Also, Carter and Dumo last season had a negative GSVA. Making their total value a complete negative as that is below replacement level. You can see some of the player values -

I’d put tanger at top pair not franchise and petterson as top 4 not top pair.

I wonder what Montambeault would have to say about this. Anyone more tech savvy than I able to roll the classic footage?

I respect that even though you’re a closeted pens fan at this point you still have some semblance of hatred for at least one of our players.

I'm not closeted at all, I actively root or them when they're not playing he Flyers...and at the current time, even when they play them.

But I was never a fan of Mr. Head Snap. I actually like Crosby and when he's not swiping his stick at players' heads or slew footing people, I'm indifferent on Malkin. And in RW's eyes, everything that Letang and Malkin do is like the second coming of Bruce Campbell Jesus.

You know even as a devout catholic I will allow you this particular blasphemy in deference to Bruce Campbell’s greatness.

I think this is in your eyes haha...I've seen plenty of mention of both of their bad plays or general bad play, and what not, when its been happening in RW's blogs. He pointed out this past season that Tanger wasnt where he usually is with both the underlying and raw production stats numerous times.

Todd Reirden is apparently being considered for the Flames HC position. I'm rooting for him to get it and not because of our horribly stale power play...

Maybe sign like 1 guy that takes offense to a late high cross check to the back of the captain. Maybe just one. Not a guy that’s paid to take offense to it either, a guy that just has it written in his own code that it’s his job to watch Sids back and maybe make opponents watch theirs.

Prior to the playoffs, Adin Hill could had been a decent pick up. Looks like he’s earned a payday though.

I just think it’d be absolutely hilarious if Carter, Granlund, Petry, and Ruuta were all moved in the off-season. Which were a majority of Hextall’s “blockbuster” moves

I'm betting against buyout. If the problem is he's too expensive, a trade with retention seems workable, may be palatable in the near term and won't drag out the dead money for 4 years.
