No clue how Toronto makes that work cap-wise. SJ would have to eat half (the max allowed). Unless a 3rd team is involved. And is Nylander willing to sign long term with SJ. If that part is not worked out, then I would not make this trade. Sure SJ unloads that contract. I dont see how this works.

Probably decent for SJ as they can swap Nylander out at the deadline. If the 2025 is lottery protected, even better. The "major prospect" best be Knies because I'm not sure who else the Leafs have that would be considered "major". Not sure how this makes much sense for Toronto, but maybe Treliving wants to make a big splash as does upper management in the post-Dubas era. Seems like a "trade to make a trade" kinda deal for Toronto.
