Depends on what he wants as a contract. If it is 4 years, then WASH should keep him as the cost won't be crazy and he is very hard to replace...also, you can't be trading off all the talent now for a complete rebuild with Ovi likely retiring in 2 or maybe 3 years.
Being said, if they are intent on dumb GMing or Wilson just wants out/way too much term or money, then likely landing spots will be out of the conference and take back a younger forward with untapped potential. I could see either:
COL: Newhook + B-prospect + 2nd (conditional 1st if he resigns) for Wilson
LAK: Vilardi + 2nd for Wilson
As an outside chance CGY may want to rid themselves of a couple of very long term contracts (1st I think WASH would pay in this case):
CGY: Huberdeau + Weegar FOR Wilson + Kuznetsov + 1st in 2025

If I was Minny I would sign Dumba and flip him for Wilson. Sign and trade that is basically unicorn for unicorn.
Although the smarter move is to offer zero for Wilson when you can sign a guy like Bertuzzi as UFA. Other options could include Barbashev, Domi, Miles Wood on a cheap show me deal, even a guy like Engvall might be interesting. But none are unicorns.

Boston offers: Trent Frederic, Jakub Zboril, John Beecher and a 2025 3rd round pick.
From Washington: Tom Wilson, 2024 5th round pick.
Boston offers Wilson a contract worth 4 years/23M. (5.75m per)
Boston then trades for Kadri and rolls a line of Marchand - Kadri - Wilson.

I wouldn't let that guy on my team even if you retained his salary, promised to pay the entirety of his next contract, included Kuznetsov and Carlson, retained 100% of their salaries, and threw in your next five 1st round draft picks, and I only have to send back a bag of pucks.
Kings already had to endure Sean Avery. I'm still recovering from that.
Hard pass. |

He's not the same player as he was 3 years ago so if I was a GM, I'd be careful trading valuable assets for him |

Bingo. UFA class has more appealing options that can be signed for free. I'd maybe offer a 3rd round pick for Wilson. Nothing more. His game won't age well...

Most importantly, if Wilson isn't coming with all world goaltending, then no one is talking about replicating Florida. Tkachuk has been great- and far better than Wilson has ever been- but Bobrovsky is the reason why Florida is still playing. |

To Washington Boston 1st 28th
To Toronto Wilson
some of these offers are outrageous.. short and sweet to the point. |

He'll stay with Washington until the TD. Washington is rebuilding so I'm guessing they'll want a middle of the 1st round pick and a couple of prospects from a fringe 2024 playoff team like Seattle or Minnesota. |

Since when is a guy who's never scored more than 52 points in a season a unicorn?
He's a solid player, but I hear him compared him to Brad Marchand, Corey Perry, or Matt Tkachuk, just stop he's not half the player of those guys. For one the others have had 50 goal or 100 point seasons. He's barely cracked 50 points for Christ's sake.
He's going to be 29, plays a heavy game, already missed a ton of time this year. Not signing him to a 7 year deal, (frank) that noise. No thank you. |

Winnipeg Jets Trade:
- Logan Stanley (rights)
- Mark Scheifele
Capitals Trade:
- Tom Wilson (extended $6m x 5) 50% retained salary
Capitals eat a bit of salary to get the more dynamic offensive player to aid in Ovie’s pursuit to #1 all-time. Caps also get the option to negotiate with a big defenceman capable of playing a larger role (4/5/6) than he’s been given with Winnipeg. Fresh starts for the Jets involved work well for both. Jets get harder to play against with Wilson on 2nd line wing, and another leader in the locker room for what will soon become a younger roster once again. |
