For the last time - we want nothing to do with that POS.

He was a mediocre GM who has a permanent stain on his record.

Dubas and I wear the same glasses. They look way cooler on me but it’s enough for me to go into the Dubas camp.

A Dubas-Tulsky partnership is best case IMO. Dubas as Pres of Hockey Ops and Tulsky as GM.

It is annoying we cannot talk to certain candidates until after 6/30. We dont have as many draft picks (thanks Hextall), but youd have to think we have someone in place by the draft. The problem is if some of the best candidates are unavailable to talk until 7/1, do the Penguins wait or do they settle for someone?

Additionally - if a guy like Dubas says he's interested but wants a break first, do you wait for him?

Having requirements of "young and aggressive" is dangerous and stupid. Firstly "young" usually means inexperienced, impatient, overlooking nuances, etc. And combined with "aggressive" will mean players are on edge, likely overpaying for players, etc. It's basically asking for a young and inexperienced Rutherford...NO THANK YOU!

Need somebody like Yzerman (obviously he's not going anywhere) who has an extremely deep understanding of hockey, tons of patience, not willing to overpay/finds value, methodical, etc.

Among those out there, Dubas is NOT one of these people.

Whoever it ends up being they certainly have no time to be patient.

But analytics. Yzerman is a "hockey guy" so he's not good at his job.

“Analytics is a broad term, but we use data in everything,” he said. “We look at analytics, but we also try to look at things from a subjective point of view. The more information you have, the more you can make more informed, better decisions. We try to use analytical data in every aspect of running the organization.”

Exactly. Even the old school "hockey guys" can learn the value of analytics, and should not be immediately discounted as such, especially those with no or limited track records.

Dreger saying Toronto has granted FSG permission to talk to Dubas.

Kinda surprised they would let them. Maybe they figure he isnt going to take another job. The good news is we should know quickly whether he has any interest.

He’ll be a UFA in a month. There’s no reason to not allow permission except for spite. It’s much better to keep working relationships with other orgs/a guy who will most likely be running another org at some point in the future.

How terrible would it be if the Penguins sign Dubas and they win a cup...

Ugh that would LITERALLY be the worst thing EVER.

At least it would be funny watching Dubas take digs at the Leafs.

That or if he was the GM of a team who beat the Leafs on the way to winning the cup.

It sounds like the whole reason he wasnt brought back by Toronto was due to spite. I figured Shanahan would be equally as petty as he was last week.

He's already plotting to bring Matthews to Pittsburgh next summer as a UFA.

It seems as though if Toronto thinks Dubas is a bad GM (thus the reason for firing him), then they would want him to go to another team and be a bad GM there, too, especially in the same conference.

I wouldn't bet on that happening, but then again...somebody is probably going to get a nice payday for picking Florida in their bracket.
