I still have no idea why Dallas made that trade. Either Neal or Niskanen would be, at the very least, fair price for Goligoski. Goligoski was a purely offensive defenseman who needed to be deployed carefullt, where as Niskanen was an all situations guy. Neal was a young power forward who already had 3 20+ goal seasons under him. Then, I remember being at the draft and hearing the Neal trade, and was surprised they were able to get Horny+ for him as he had seemed to wear out his welcome at his last year. Both great moves.

Granlund could be a decent player, at best. Not a needle mover, but a decent yet overpaid middle-6 guy. There's not a whole lot that makes me think he'll ever get back to 60 point with his recent play.

That trade was an example of Shero magic. He did a few magical fleecing trades in his time. Some other trades were so-so.

With regards to Granny, while his production hasnt been there, I've noticed him creating a lot ...he's a nifty lil playmaker...problem is the people he's created for haven't finished. Which is another reason they shouldn't have acquired him, they needed finishing ability haha. I doubt he ever hits the 60 point mark again, as well.

No Carter at practice. Probably just maintenance day.

Here's the lines....

Jake Guentzel-Sidney Crosby-Bryan Rust

Jason Zucker-Evgeni Malkin-Mikael Grandlund

Danton Heinen-Ryan Poehling-Rickard Rakell

Drew O’Connor-Alex Nylander-Josh Archibald

P.O Joseph-Kris Letang

Brian Dumoulin-Jeff Petry

Mark Friedman-Chad Ruhwedel-Taylor Fedun switching

Good news with Petry returning.

Let's see what Granlund can do with his opportunity. He's played with Zucker before, now that he's had a practice with Malkin and Zucker. We should be able to gain a fair evaluation on him.

Very interested in what a Zucker-Malkin-Grandlund line could do.

I'd Switch Rust with Rak, but other than that I'm kind of interested in what Granlund could do With Geno.

I’m just not very interested in what Granlund can do with Malkin and Zucker. Prime Granlund maybe, but this version of Granlund is a 4th liner, regardless of any previous success he’s had with Zucker.

My guess: he gets a handful of points off the bat and everyone thinks we’ve figured it out, but then he goes back to being a complete non-factor.

Hahaha I think that's probably gonna be close to accurate. I'd rather him in the bottom 6, myself.

5 mil a year for a guy that would get a vet min contract if he hit UFA this summer is just gross.

It's pretty disgusting, yeah. However, as I said above, I have seen him making some pretty nifty passes and plays. Outside chance making nifty passes to Zucks or Geno might work out... Not holding my breath on it, though hahah

Getting that first WC is huge. Carolina lost Svechnikov, and they had trouble scoring as it was. Plus lets your avoid the Boston/TB/Toronto side.

NO doubt! We have 2 less games tha NY but we'd have to win both if it remains as it stands right now. I want no part of Boston in the 1st round.

I have slim hopes of moving into the 5th best lotto odds. Any points jeopardize that.

It would be absolutely bonkers if the Wings got Bedard hahaha...I know, know...finishing last, our close to last, hasnt gotten you guys #1 pick in recent history but in the upside down sometimes non-sensical world of hockey you guys in 5th best lotto odds is the year you win it hahaha
