Agreed and I'll take it one step further; we shouldn't care about Russian laws in the US they have no bearing and vice versa.

This pride stuff has gone too far imo. I respect their choices but nobody seems to be standing up and having an I am all white day. For god sakes just live and let live. Be happy because it is what it is.

If there was no pride night there would be no Russian religion involved. Hell I can't even ask for a black coffee anymore. Way to go Hawks organization and also thanks for not changing the team name as well.

Does this mean they are open to drafting Michkov?

I really do think this is just a bad look all around throughout the NHL.

Be thankful you, and I, don’t need an all white day. When the LGBTQ community have all the same rights, are treated by everyone with respect and dignity, there will no longer be any need for Pride Day.

If you do not get Bedard I would take the Russian in a heartbeat. I think Bedard will end up in Columbus.

Nice job Zach. While I’m very conservative, I say live and let live. On a hockey note, Mo posted this on the last blog.

My own personal rule is no goalies in round one, and probably not the second, either.
- Mohel

Mo, agree on round one, but with four second round picks, I’d take best player available in round two. If best available is a goalie when they pick in 2nd round, then I say go for it, especially with a later 2nd round pick.

Very good point, I accept and respect all people no matter color or choices. You are correct and I guess there are a lot of people out there that are racist or whatever. My statement was incorrect but it is my view from my perspective.

Russian laws matter to those who still have families and friends there.

We already know the Hawks are taking Michkov at #4. Haven’t we covered this already?

Seriously, if hockey was for everyone, I would be able to buy seats on the glass for my family. The slogan "Hockey is for Everyone" is a lie, and everyone knows it.

Thank you Chicago Blackhawks for not caving to the people who are trying to divide this country (and world).

I used to think this way as well. Then the indoctrination started. Now I understand why tolerance is a weakness.

How is treating everyone respectfully and ensuring everyone has equal rights dividing people?

When Provorov did not participate in the Flyers' pride night it was a huge national story with countless opinions, yet to my surprise nobody seemed to even consider that it might have been out of concern for himself or his family. I of course have no idea if that was his reasoning, but the reasoning he gave sounded a lot like what someone would say if it was.

If the Hawks continued on with their Pride Night their Russian players would have to choose between putting themselves and their families back home at risk or facing heavy judgement and scrutiny here (the Hawks of course would as well).

I agree with everything you've said here, but with all due respect you aren't really addressing the issue if you don't address the reasoning behind the decision. Did the Hawks make the right decision? No, because life isn't black and white and in this situation there is no right decision. I do think they made the best one given the circumstances.

You mean caving to the Russians?

You do realize Republicans and Democrats are very similar people, but our own parties don't want us think so, so they don't have to do anything to keep our vote.

Your logic fails. How many countries do you want to apply it too? Every nation in the world is where that slippery slope takes you once you allow one. The law of our land is what matters.

You think having a "day" for a group of people is allowing people equal rights? That is really the problem. Thinkers like you.

You can apply it to every country if you'd like, most have freedom of speech and don't care if their laws are broken by citizens who are abroad. Russia is really the only one (at least with any players in the NHL) where this is a concern. It is incredibly easy for you to say that only the law of our land matters, it may not be so easy for those who have families back home that could be punished for it, or who could face serious punishment themselves should they ever return home.

So you’re saying the military shouldn’t have a “day”?

And of course it doesn’t give people equal rights. It creates an awareness for people who don’t seem to believe certain people deserve equal rights. Do you believe certain people shouldn’t have the same rights as you?
