Interesting article about how Scott made the decision, without consulting the Three Wise Men”, to fire Fletcher. That Clarke, Barber, Holmgren, and Lombardi will no longer influence decisions making and that Briere is actually an outsider and not hired because of nepotism. Hope it’s accurate.

Only then did Scott call the Three Wise Men and tell them. It sent shock waves through the organization.
For the first time since the late 1970s, the Flyers’ holy trinity had no say in a major move. No input. Just a phone call, telling them how things were going to be.
Scott and the Three Wise Men preferred not to comment on the momentous occasion.
Great first step. The closest the Flyers came before was Hextall but when he shut them out they ousted him for it, they could only do that with Scott's blessing and without Scott's blessing they are greatly reduced in influence.

Come on man -- we know that they are all retired and Clarke spends most of his time in Florida!!

If I were to lay an assessment on the last game, the Flyers were passing better.
The Sabres are supposed to be fast. I saw little of that driving the play. If anything, it seemed that the Flyers kept up and surpassed them (OT especially).
While they may continue spiraling into an auger, it's a relief to see something positive, no matter how infrequent.
Umm.... YEAH? |

I view him as a classic agitator. Steve Downie, Max Talbot, Dan Carrillo. |

I think some of it is he's playing for the future so he's on his best behavior. He seems effective playing in that role so maybe he got the message. |

The Sabres looked like a team that is a bit fragile. A young team with the playoff push pressure affecting their play. The Flyers are going to win some of these games down the stretch as they are playing loose and free. I’m sure the Sabres were extremely disappointed in their performance. For the Flyers seeing some of their young guys having success is always a good thing going forward. |

Agreed ….not sure he’s not a tad redundant. But so far he’s playing fairly solid. |

I don’t believe anything written or spoken about the Flyers currently. I only believe what I see.
Anything I see that I believe to be a step in the right direction, I assume is an error by Flyers.
It will be at the very least until after next years trade deadline of 95% of decision made in a way opposite of what I would think Barber and Clarke would want, that I will begin to trust words spoken or written by or about the Flyers.
And for the record, John Tortorella is a coach with a long history of choosing grit over talent. |

He writes for the inquirer. He does a lot of opinion pieces. Face it, the NHL isnt really a high priority for the paper right now, but he’s as an ok hockey guy. It’s more an article about front office goings on than hockey itself anyway. What he says about the way the team has been run is right on. He sites two league sources for the info about Scott no longer taking advice from the dinosaurs and about Briere being somewhat of an outsider. Hope he’s right. |

Well I have to post it. Anyone who tried to make the case that Frost was as impactful of a player as Owen Tippet this season, this is for you!
And for all those that want to dismiss this Flyers season as not a step forward, ask Buffalo how hard a team to play against the Flyers are! |

I have doubt that TK and Couts could play and want to play, but are being held so the Flyers have a better chance of losing some more games. |

I just want to add this about Marcus Hayes. A few years ago when writing about the Flyers he suggested that Ghost be taking off the Defense and added to the wing because of his skating and scoring ability. |

The broadcast just called Brent Burns a future hall of famer. You think so? He’s the definition of defensemen I’ve always found his game to be uneven. |

Ugh…but then again we’ve seen “hockey people” try to turn Morin into a winger |
