Is anyone else aware of the “Cartoon version” of the Rangers/Caps game on Thursday? https://www.nhl.com/news/...isney-channel/c-341043372

If I’m reading this right, on Disney Plus the actual game will be shown but with cartoon versions of the characters. It starts at the same time as the ESPN broadcast of the regular game and is using the new “tracking” to basically make a cartoon version of a live game to see if it will appeal to a younger audience. This may be the answer to the billion dollar loan anonymous source that was “a new trial partnership” in technology. I covered that loan, what little we know about it, a couple blogs ago. Essentially, Disney is streaming the real game and the cartoon version has characters from the show “Big City Greens” on the ice along side “animated” versions of the players. Let me get your thoughts on this concept. I just heard about it after learning more about the SVB FDIC transfer and downgrade of 2 crypto currencies last week due to the situation.

Seems like a lot of fans are crying about this win because they want the Wings to go into "tank" mode. I say good for the Wings to fight for a win and not give up! Enjoyed the game but was a bit concerned that the B's would find a way to tie it.
I was a witness to that play-off game that they stole from the Leafs and won the series when they were down 4 goals. Not all the same personal, but the same attitude that this team possesses.

We finished dead last and picked 4th. The lottery has not been friendly. I want these players trying to play. I won’t go conspiracy theory, we’ve just already seen it not work

Solid win. I think beating a top team is worth the experience and confidence to the players for the tank.

I'm one of those cheering for losses. This is a very deep draft and a top 4 pick will produce a star player (in my opinion).

For the last several years of the Holland regime, the Wings would go on huge win streaks after they were out of the playoffs. The result, the highest they ever picked was 4th.

I'm hoping for a top 4 pick, and I'd be happier about a #2 pick over the #1 pick.

They were in last place. The reason they picked 4th is that they were bumped back 3 spots by other teams. That was the at least the second lotto where we fell back that many. Now the most you can fall back is 2 spots. Regardless, it wasn’t a “run” that kept us from getting higher than the 4th pick. I think the scouting has been better, for sure Seider has been a nice surprise. I just have to wonder if a better finish may not lead to better “lotto luck”, but still expect to get bumped back at least 1 spot. Will be glad to be wrong

I certainly don't remember it being as you described. I don't really see much data supporting it either.

2016-17
End of December: 23rd
End of January: 28th
End of February: 25th
End of season: 25th

2017-18
End of December: 25th
End of January: 24th
End of February: 24th
End of season: 27th

2018-19
End of December: 28th
End of January: 28th
End of February: 29th
End of season: 28th

In two out of three Holland-helmed non-playoff years the Red Wings finished lower in the standings than they were at roughly the halfway point, and in the other their position did not change.

I suspect you are remembering "huge win streaks" not because the Wings were actually winning a lot more late in the season, but because those wins stuck out as especially frustrating to you, since by that point you were actively cheering for them to lose.

It was so exciting to read about it specially because I missed it live. I was working to create blog and hence missed it. But I am thankful to you for sharing it all bit by bit with us!
