I get why people are pissed with the Klingberg deal, but the guy was probably the worst defenseman in the NHL this season! What did they expect in return? That they got something for him is a positive in my eyes. If I were a Minnesota Wild fan I'd be really nervous about this trade. Klingberg better start scoring goals quickly because no one other than Dollar Bill can score for the Wild and Klingberg sure is going to give up his fair share with his horrific defensive play.

I think I’ve said most of this on other threads, but;

Getting a 3rd for Thrun is miles better than getting nothing and having him walk away.

Getting more than a 3rd for Kulikov is good work - McGinn is a roster upgrade on the bottom 6 and even if he’s a bit overpaid, it won’t create any cap issues.

Ducks got their bag of pucks for Klingberg. Big swing and miss for the front office. His time in Anaheim was disappointing to say the least. I hope he finds whatever game he has left in Minnesota.

Ducks only have 2 healthy NHL d-men on contract for next season and one of them is Colton White. They’ll have LaCombe under contract and Drysdale and Benoit are RFAs. I think they’ll try to extend Shattenkirk to give another veteran presence to help mentor the kids that will be pushing their way into the lineup over the next year or two.

The only other moveable option would have been Henrique, but his MCL sprain made him a non-factor. Overall, probably not what fans were hoping for but not a bad outcome given what the Ducks had to deal.

I watched the Calgary game and that was the guy I was expecting.. Vertank should'a conveyed that to BG.. hey don't judge him with how he's played with us... give me a value based on how he'd look with you guys.. should have gotten at least a 3rd. Perhaps a 4th. Just a poor negotiator little patty...

Yeah he did ok with Thrun.. fck'm and with Kulikov... but retaining salary WTF.

Overall D - and that is being quite generous... He's butchered the whole year... there were deals to be made to make this team way more competitive early and throughout the year for real D men. On waivers and trades ...

Vertank is in over his head.. and if the Samueli's can't afford this team which it seems they cannot.. sell the owners who can.

It was hard to say what klingberg would do with the Ducks. I really feel we didn't see the best of him. When players get older they have to make adjustments to there play style to accommodate for lost speed or skating. And he seems to be right in middle of that process. He lost some speed and has to rely more on positioning and knowledge to get by. But If he does he should have a few more good years left.

Damn giving up on Verbeek already? I’d be a bit more patient with a GM that learned under Yzerman.

Where to start ????

Straight Lying to Gibson about rebuild / tank -

This yr has been esp egregious- he’s let multiple pieces that could have helped .. esp D slide - not making trades for defensive help has been just an abdication of GM’ing -

Most damning .. keeping the swarm.

Yeah. Verbeek traded Lindholm and Manson. Pretty much gutted the Ducks defense. Ans so far doesn't seem to have a good plan to fix it. I personally don't Wana wait another 3 to 5 years for defensive prospects to develop. We aren't even sure how good mintuykov, Zellweger are gonna be. They both could end up being the next Ivan provarov or Rasmus Ristolinen. We don't know. Pretty much Verbeek doomed the Ducks organization to mediocrity for at least 3. Maybe more. And we already wait almost 5.
