Penguins should have resigned Nick Bonino after their 2nd cup..... He'd be long gone by now but we've been throwing draft capital and capspace at 3C ever since

Need to do Dumo and a pick to Chicago for Domi

Chicago can flip Dumo for another pick later

Really dont think they're interested in getting rid of Dumo, unfortunately.

I think that’s what allowed them to get Bertuzzi. CF shows 2.8m in space

Does Brian Burke have no say on this team? What does he do besides make public appearances

If they were to give Arizona a call for some cap relief, I’d hope they’d at least discuss the option of swapping DeSmith for Vejmelka.

I like the idea of Dumo for Domi but fear the LD most likely to be traded will be Petts and that it’s only a matter of time.

Off topic I heard that gmjr didn’t want to trade Matt Murray to Calgary for Dougie Hamilton let fleury go instead. Not saying it was right or wrong but imagine Hamilton on that d and fleury still with Jarry backing up

I’m sure we probably would have had one more cup

I'd be down for sending Dumo OR Mcginn with Desmith to get Vejmelka. Obviously there would be more involved but, yea.

How would that have worked cap wise lol, Murray was on ELC at the time and Fleury had the bigger contract

There was an opportunity to sell high on a lot of players after our 2nd cup. I get going for the 3peat, but imagine a full blown retool back then and where we'd be right now?

In hindsight GMJR did ok on a lot of his final trades. Murray for a 2nd, Kessel for POJ, Matheson for Hornqvist even though most all got hate at the time

I don’t know lol. I know it was before Hamilton signed his big deal with jersey. Not sure what he was making back then. But it’s fun to dream what could have been

Anyone feel like some of these teams are almost overdoing it with these acquisitions? Kinda like the 2013 Penguins?

Yeah that would have been the best approach vs trying to keep those teams in tact. After the failed 3peat, do a reset for a year or two and they could have been back at at it. They would have been tough decisions but what we have now is the result.
