Schenn for Rutta to get a bit of cap space for another move? That would actually not be a terrible move if that is the logic

I'm not gonna complain though until after the deadline and we see what actually happens. Hextall usually doesn't advertise what he's thinking on these matters.

There are rumblings via Elliotte Friedman that the Penguins are finalists, with the Bruins, to land Luke Schenn, a former Hextall Flyer.
- Ryan_Wilson

This is 100% bullpoop. Hextall inherited Luke Schenn and traded him away (with the corpse of Vinny Lecavalier) for a 3rd round pick and an AHLer; in other word, cap space.

I think Id do this just for the entertainment factor of a big trade hahah....but Hex isnt trading 1sts...just dont see it. Jarry is cleared to play and there's no talks of the hip stuff, so I dont think he wants to part with Jarry at all, either.

See....if we still had GMJR you would absolutely know some big shakeups were coming...and they were always hit or miss. What GMJR would do about this could propel them or sink them more. Hex is timid, however....i dont think he has blockbuster trade DNA in him at all, lacks the testicular fortitude as a GM...had lots as a goalie, none as a GM.

Schenn has 21 points and is a +9 on an absolutely TERRIBLE Canucks team while receiving zero PP time

Ruhwedal (Fanboi Wilson's favourite 3rd pairing guy) has 4 points and is a -1 on a much better team

Fancy stats are for NERDS. Vancouver will get a 2nd for him easily

He's not enough to fix the problems on this team. If the Pens had more expiring contracts they should be sellers this year and accumulate assets to trade at next years deadline. Retool this offseason (Zucker, Dumo contracts off the books, trade them now if you can get anything)

This team is going nowhere this year in the playoffs, regardless of what they do

Hopefully FSG can have the Pens start front loading contracts so when guys don't work out (cough, McGinn, Ruutta, cough) they can be easily moved to cap floor teams

Luke Schenn is so good he has been playing for league minimum for 5 seasons now

I think Chuchryn is overrated and I don't want to trade picks or Pickering (I think he will turn into a really good player).

I think the best way to do a Jarry trade is to Edmonton or LA and taking back one of their goalie contracts.

Is Jack Campbell better than Jarry... probably not but I'd still take him back in a deal if it gets us a solid return or allows us to shed cap space elsewhere.

Jarry & Zucker (1/2 retained) for Campbell, Puljujarvi, Savoie and a 1st.

Cal Peterson has completely fallen apart, but I'd still take him in a deal if we can get a big haul from LA's prospect pool.

Jarry for Peterson, Turcotte & 1st.

I'll just hope we keep losing so we can get a return on our expiring assets and not trade assets for guys like Schenn who wont move the needle.

I wish they'd give Poehling more a shot. He at least has some good physical skills going for him.

I've really liked him on 4th line.... Pretty sure he hasn't been tried anywhere else in lineup.. Could be wrong there.

If you’re talking Schenn or Ruh I’d definitely prefer Schenn. Let’s play out this scenario, GM asks Schenn Boston or Pittsburgh it’s up to you? Which would he pick? Hex should be working on clearing McGinn and Kaps salary and upgrading top six scoring. Pens are just too pedestrian in that matter.

Yohe says the Pens are going to wait and see what happens in these upcoming games to make a decision on adding. Hex is literally 50/50 on what to do.

That’s probably the right strategy, but it probably dooms them IMO.

Also said he hasn’t heard a single rumor about any players they may be interested in.

If Hex does what he should do and uses this TDL to shed capspace, trade expiring contracts for picks and look to retool in the offseason with an eye on 2023/2024, He won't be the one to do it. He'll be fired

If he wants to save his job he needs to either stand pat and hope the current roster can win at least 2 rounds, or he needs to go all in and at the least look like he's trying to do something

He is what he is. A very good regular 3rd pairing defenseman on a cheap contract. The suggestion that Ruhwedal is somehow his equivalent is laughable

Every time hextall speaks is more reason he should be fired. You don’t sign geno, letang, rust, and Rakell then say you’re 50/50 on what to do because you sat on your hands for 75% of the season. If the holes were addressed in nov/Dec, we probably are safely in a playoff spot. This guy is such an idiot. How did he pass a job interview and then survived the ownership change?
