I was worried that the performances by carter and kappy against the ducks would give hextall the perfect example of "see, this is what this team can do" but the performance against the kings is really the team he has. He has to change his line up. Otherwise, he is not the guy for this team's win now goal. And what does burke do again? Sullivan seemed very 'meh' also after the game. zero push back when sid got cross checked too.

In isolation? The statue is ridiculous. In context it isn't. It is more a tribute to team and the success he had as a leader. The club had stunk for a large chunk of its time in existence since 1967. Short of 93 and a few first round upsets in 82 and 01, there wasn't much success until Brown, Quick, Kopi and Drew got here. I personally don't care for Brown much, but I appreciate what he did in 12-14.

I could be wrong but it seems like often by the second game the time zone change "catches up" to the team and they play really bad. I think it happened in the western Canada trip too. Add to the fact that it started at 11:00 PM EST (in part because of the original 10:30 start time and in part because of the Brown retirement) and it just makes it that much worse. I don't know why the nhl allows games to start that late when it is an eastern play playing out west. I also think it affects older teams more than younger ones.

Hopefully they will be used to the time change by the SJ game on Tuesday.

I do not know which stunk the worst That Statue or last night's performance by this uninspired team. Even the Coyotes give an honest effort every night They play hard and they do not have much talent but you have to give them credit for showing up every night This Penguin team does not show up every night and they play like an overpaid bunch of losers. I have been a fan of this franchise since its inception in 67 but this is just unacceptable. They have no fight desire or enthusiasm I just do not get it. Country club Pens are back and loving the malaise

If you go down a schedule at the beginning of a season and chose winners and losers, I'm pretty sure you'd check the "loss" box on this game every time. Throw in the additional qualifier of using your back-up goalie (who isn't very good and has been waaay over taxed) on b2b nights. Why didn't Tokarski start?

If they lose to the Sharks again, that will be another huge red flag for Hextall.

Being a good team leader is not a good qualification to earn a statue. I dont particularly care that you guys built him a statue. Its your organization. If the fans in LA like it, that's all that matters.

Personally disappointed the Penguins in their prime didnt get the chance to take on the Hawks or Kings in the finals during each of their primes. You two had some classic battles.

Kings would have dominated anyone in their prime.

So I can't speak of the second and third period, as I went to bed, but the Pens played a great first period. Kings first goal was a beauty tip and the we had DeStink on the next two then he was pulled. Sh!tty goaltending has such a ripple effect on a team and game.

Pens beat Kings 6-1 this season.. They were paid back for that haha

It is clear the Kings were fired up and ready to play. I am surprised the NHL allowed such a late start. Watching the statue unveil, I was doubting my eyes. However, it did seem like I heard some nervous giggles from the crowd after it was displayed. The picture confirms how bad it is. Glad the Penguins did a great job on the Mario statue.

So far today I saw the Pens are “front runners” for a top scorer, adding toughness, and getting a 3rd line center. My guess is none of that happens.

More and more I am hoping we acquire Acciari and Barbashev. Both would definitely help the bottom 6 greatly

The Pens current configuration of bottom six ain’t cutting it at all. Hextall does not impress me. His talent assessment, a critical function of his job, is flawed to say the least. Plus the defense reconfiguration is not complete IMHO.

Anyone else read that Jarry has "chronic hip issues" that ain't good. Wonder if we can snag Vejmelka from the Yotes, he's signed 2 more years after this at 2.75 per. That could buy us some time to see if Lindberg/Bloomqvist can be a tandem for us.

Not good. Team will move on after this season if that’s the case.

I agree. I mean he's a god damn animal for how well he plays with the issue but, we need a goalie before this deadline.
