If im KD i trade anyone i can. Get as many lottery tickets and lets hope they have improved vastly on Drafting but most importantly Player Development!

The McCabe being traded rumors started about a month or so ago when he mentioned in an interview. paraphrasing here, he's tired of playing on poor teams (Chicago and Buffalo) and wanted to play for a contender.

Murphy, on the other hand is being the good trooper and hasn't mentioned, to my knowledge, his dislike for playing on a losing team. Murphy supposedly provides some leadership in the room and is said to be a good role model for the younger players. Maybe KD and LR value this and aren't as anxious to trade him.

I can see a scenario if one is traded, the other will stick around for at least one more season to provide some experience on the blue line. Next season's D lineup could be similar to this year's - veterans, journeymen and a couple of prospects gradually being exposed to the NHL.

I just don't think those lottery picks are going be bantered about like a bag of potato chips.

DOES Patrick kaner have a HIP INJURY?

Arthur Staple NYC scribe says the "whole league knows he needs surgery."

I am gonna contact Staple so he can tell me what exactly Frank Nazar's surgery was, since the entire league knows what we don't...

Read the same thing Wiz.

Spector ran the same article by Staple and others, concluding:

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The decline in Kane’s performance this season combined with his nagging lower-body injury could be dampening interest in the long-time Blackhawks star. The remainder of his $10.5 million cap hit is still difficult for many teams to absorb plus he seems reluctant to waive his no-movement clause. Given those factors, there might not be much of a trade market for Kane.

We'll see what happens at the deadline.

This is the reason Arizona will win the Bedard sweepstakes. Think like a Bettman, not a rational man.

Could be but ESPN getting the rights and trying to pimp them to ESPN+ like a typical Disney owned company ($$$$$$$) has also grossly hurt them.

Same issues that has always been. They have ZERO clue how to market their game, their stars, etc. Just an archaic league led by inept commissioner and dinosaur board of governors.

You get somebody to a game they live.....most, if not all, love it. However, ask anyone who steph curry is and they'll tell you in a 2nd. Ask same person who McDavid is and they have ZERO clue.

As I bonafide Murphy hater, what leadership does he bring? All this guy does is partake on losing teams, supposedly rally the USA World JV5 team, and spit cliche after cliche after cliche. No it's not on Murphy's watch entirely that he's always on a loser, but he also doens't help the cause. if I were a GM I'd stay clear of him....but god willing Davidson can find a sucker to take this turd off our hands and let him go run out of position in a tied game to hit somebody, blow himself up, and lose a crucial playoff game.

Yeah but you have to take that in context. Games in NYC, Pitt and Boston were subject to blackouts which would have significantly increased the viewership numbers.

With the regional rights the way they are, trying to measure the ratings for games across the board on TNT or ESPN isn't really a great metric since some of the bigger markets aren't included for viewership.

I would suspect that Chicago has a similar deal with Comcast where national games are blacked out regionally so a big portion of that viewership is local rather than TNT or ESPN.

And on the other side of the Kane coin is this which was published on Tuesday.

Last paragraph in this article...

Patrick Kane is still elite, one of the very best players in the world, who has a skillset and ability that could keep him a productive player until age 40. There is plenty left in the tank. And he’d be an assassin for any acquiring club hoping to add a fourth Stanley Cup to his trophy closet. The rub is whether he’ll be willing to leave Chicago behind.

it sucks but from the outside looking in.....IF this was 2010 and say an aging generational talent, who had some statistical decline, and a lingering injury people on this board would be OK giving up a 1st, prospect, and god knows what else? I dont think so.

I think it's fair to wonder if the Kane does approve, what exactly the Hawks get back. Only the Hawks and said opposing buyer will know for sure what his meds say but if Kane does NOT move...I would bet he shuts it down and gets what elective surgery is needed is to be as close to 100% entering UFA. He has to pass a physical.

Still is a great player but it's fair to say even without the skill around him, he has looked very much at least 1 step slower than he has even last year. Probably why Domi went bananas after that guy that hit him hard into the end boards.

I'll believe the Hawks can find a trading partner for McCabe and Murphy when it actually happens. Aside from the arguments on the merits for both players, the Hawks also have to navigate the salary floor, and they have to gauge when it's time to start calling up prospects. They might be motivated to trade McCabe if he has told them he wanted out, if his comments about playing his whole career for losing teams is any indication.

Whatever Kane's injury issue is, teams will still want to rent him, even if they might be more reluctant to sign him in the offseason. Not many contending teams are even in a position to do a sign and trade for him, anyway.

Murphy submitted his list of 10 teams and McCabe has 7...rumor for McCabe is, it's all of Canada outside of Toronto.

After Kane and Toews, will be nice to have assets who don't have the leverage and a GM who gave out NMC/NTC like candy on Halloween.

If i were KD and the Rangers keep playing this game i would make a deal with NJ for next to nothing so they can face Kane in the 1st round of the playoffs if they maintain that playoff spot.

That's really dumb though if you are trying to sell your product. I guess that's why the salary cap only goes up less than 3% per year.

When will they learn you aren't selling the sport to adults.

Well god knows Rocky needs his 25% draw from Hawks games on comcast so he can tell Crain's he lost 200 million next year.

No, I agree with you. I'd rather listen to a 4 yr old announce Hawks games than what they have now.

I read that too Boiler. He has Kane as one of the 17 elite players in the league.

There still will be a market for Kane subject to him waiving. Owners can't protect themselves from themselves. It's an arm race, and if Kane puts a team over the top this year over the future, they need to take action so they don't end up like the Canucks, Sharks, Ducks, Predators and Bills. They are the biggest losers of all- getting to the Grail and failing. Makes me so much more thankful for our three cups
even with our sad state now.

Dots, I’ll have to agree with you, money talks. The NHL needs the big market teams to be at the very least competitive, and ideally contenders.

The cynic in me thinks the Rangers are interested in Kane but believe KD's asking price is too high. So they leak a story to a New York writer about Kane being damaged goods and everyone knows it to drive down his trade value.

They wouldn't do that would they? Nah.

A medical would confirm/deny any leak. All New York has to do is request Kane see their doctor.
