Lamoriello is great at trades and he's quite patient, The Islanders are a really good team with problems scoring goals, Horvat should help that weakness.

You're not even in a playoff spot and Pittsburgh has 3 games at hand on you... That's not a "really good team". The Islanders have 5 more wins than the Canucks. If the Islanders are a really good team then I guess the Canucks are good too? I was expecting a contender to trade for Horvat not a team that's going to miss the playoffs.

Changed my thinking over last few years because of cap. I think the islanders have it right. You go all in in trying to win. When it fails, blow it up and sell off everything and begin rebuild from ground floor

Hyperbole much? It’s not a great move by any stretch of anyone’s imagination.

NYI still miss, but Lou flips Bo at the deadline and retains and gets a lot more for him than he paid

The Islanders have one thing a lot of other teams do not! Elite goal tending. Their Achilles heel is(has been) goal scoring. Horvat helps this. Who knows what happens? As others have posted already, If the Islanders slide out of wild card contention?....Just move Horvat for more than was paid to aquire him.
Good/great move by Lou!(IMO)

Did you guys know that Mike Bossy preferred Thousand Island dressing on his salads? And that's how the Islanders got their name.

Another in a long series of stupid trades by an old man who should have retired years ago. That first is going to end up burning him worse than the #13 he gave up in that absurd trade for Romanov. The Islanders are 20th in point percentage in the league, they aren't a great or good team. Not one place except for this site run by casual fans who still think the Avs are shopping for a goalie thinks this was a smart move.

As far as Vancouver - what use is Beauvillier going to be in a rebuild? Just what you need to start your rebuild, a middle six forward on a bad contract.

Are you mad that you lost Horvat? Your team is as bad as the Hawks(and have not committed to a re-build)?, The Flames are better than the Nuck's?, the cost of fuel is so high?, The return on the trade?, That people in glass houses "SHOULD NOT" throw stones?, Or which Team aquired Horvat?

I think this ends bad for the Isles. They either overpay Horvat or he walks. Missing the playoffs would just add to this mess.

Don't think the Sabres rush anything, if they want to jump in they will, and if there serious pretty much could beat any offer, or they can just let the kids develop and grow. Either way in 2yrs there gonna be a powerhouse, making a move on Timo just moves the time frame up a bit.

Do you not like Horvat because you think he dropped the “h” off his name?

Love the season the Sabres are having. They will do some damage if they make the playoffs. Both NJ and Buffalo are Cup contenders a few years out.

Both need to be patient and stick with their rebuilds. Multiple older teams are much closer to having to begin their backward slides into rebuild heaven.

I think I know who the mad one is lol. I never said the Canucks were good. Doesn't make the Islanders any less crappy. 🤣 You're really grasping at straws with all those guesses. What does "aquired" mean?

Excellent. This move applies pressure to the Panthers and their highly coveted 2023 1st round pick.

I'll try this again. From Feb.1 to end of the year, NYI went 22-19-4.

This was not the best record in the East. Not even close. It's an 87-point pace.

After 52 games this year, NYI are playing at...an 87-point pace. This is who they are. Pitt is on pace for 95 points, Buffalo is 94, Washington is 91, NYI just 87.

So they need to make up 8 points, not 4.

In order for NYI to get to 95 points, they need to magically transform and play at a 110-point pace for the final 30 games. Is Horvat enough to transform NYI from an 87-point team (which they have been over the last 97 hockey games) to a 110-point powerhouse. I don't think so. Yet we're told here that people just don't understand how smart this move was...
