I agree. I was a bit saddened when we resigned him to the money we did. But, maybe he'll end up being a bargain.

Interesting point on Boldy. Seems a great majority of contracts are pay for performance. However based on the contract, that's where that can be an issue. See Kane and Toews. Paid well for their performance for 3 cups but now considered overpaid. Boldy seems overpaid now however maybe underpaid in the later years of this contract?

Signing Boldy to that contract is an acceptable risk for Guerin. Boldy is 21 and is the 3rd or maybe 4th best offensive forward on the team. Zuccarello can play but is aging and hasn’t been good in more than 2-3 games in the last 10-12. Boldy has to get better but Guerin needs to get him someone to play with. Signing Boldy means Guerin needs to avoid giving overpays and term to middling players on the team.

I think Boldy will be just fine, and is better than most of you think. The prime for most players is about 25-31. So his contract should take him right smack in the middle of his prime. He is still just finding out what he can and cannot do in the NHL right now. This contract should give we Wild fans the chance to see a star blossom. Yes, I truly believe Boldy is going to be a star. I do agree that Guerin needs to get another skilled player on the line with Boldy, then his star will shine even brighter.

Just think about this....everyone is enamored with Sammy Walker. He's 4 years older than Boldy. People try to compare Boldy to Charlie Coyle, and there is no comparison. People remember Luke Kunin...again, no comparison. Now is Boldy going to be a 100pts a season player, doubt it. But will be around 70-80 a season, yes, I think that is what will become a regular season for him. he has played 1 more game than he did last year right now, has more goals than last year and is only 3 pts short of what he did last year...and that was skating with Fiala. Remember, he is only 21, just think when his "man muscles" completely develop, he should become a beast. Come on, try some positivity here folks.

Looking at Iowa, Walker and Rossi almost scoring at the same clip now. And Rossi appears to be figuring out the defensive side of the game now as well. It's getting near time that moves will be made by Guerin. Would like to see a real center between Zucc and KK. Would like to see a "kid" line of Boldy/Rossi/Walker. Skate Hartman with Ek and Foligno. Then, depending on that night's opponent, throw together a 4th line of Guadreau, Dewar, Duhaime, Shaw, Reaves or Steel. Unless of course, some of those players are traded away (Steel). And yes, I have Greenway not on this set up, as I expect him to be part of a trade package.
