The problem with the term tanking is that it implies cheating, It originated in professional boxing decades ago and was another term for taking a dive/Fixing a fight, So perhaps the controversy is because the wrong term was chosen to describe a teams situation. |

I expect both teams will be hungry for a win, looking forward to a good game. Any word on who will be starting in net for the mighty Kraken? Daily Faceoff has Jones as “likely” but I might want him for the back half vs Columbus tomorrow night. |

A similar hit to the Myers one, Aaron Rome in the 2011 final. 4 game suspension. One difference, the puck was actually there. |

"Vladar... has struggled mightily this season."
If getting points in 12 straight starts is struggling then I guess my definition is different.
Markstrom is the tire fire right now, although he made some doozy saves in last night's loss. Not that they made a difference in the end, but he held the team in it for more than they deserved. |

Jones first goalie off the ice.
Lines at morning skate:
Burakovsky-Donato-Eberle
Tanev-Wennberg-McCann
Tolvanen-Gourde-Bjorkstrand
Sprong-Geekie-Hayden
Dunn-Larsson
Oleksiak-Borgen
Soucy-Fleury

Yeah would expect it to be Jones. Gru against last place Blue Jackets just makes more sense.
Vladar is not bad at all. Calgary is where they are because Of him. Still think he is beatable but….
As gor the whole tanking thing, I think its old terminology. The lottery really curbs it some. Like Jamal Myers said a few nights ago the players are going to play gor themselves, contracts and jobs. Players dont tank. Management sells off the assets and tries to rebuild/retool. Thats the business side of things. Now are they tanking? Ok can call it that but more its like tossing in the towel on the season. Really though its just asset management because its only a percent chance yo nab 1st overall or move up. |

Larsson just lost his guy there. Coming back it looked like a simple 2 on 2.

Got to love the intensity and pressure. Hate not having Beniers and Schultz for this one though |

Bad luck, not a great rebound for Jones there.
Makes up for it with a couple great stops. |

Vladar really hasn't been all that great this year, but, for whatever reason, the Flames seem to score 4+ when he plays and 2 or less when it's Markstrom. Markstrom tends to let in bad goals early while Vladar lets in the bad goals to make games closer than they should be.
Vladar's outplayed Markstrom, but he's still below league average. |

Need a better effort for sure. Team just seemed off a step and give credit, Calgary was more focused and determined. Tegroup and buckle down vs Columbus next game and just keep it going. |

Good game, came out rolling outshooting them 12-4
Up 2-0 they got their goal but then Tolvanen netted another and we had it at that point. Scary with him getting his 10th. Wenny in his 600th game gets one too which was cool.
Back in 1st with games in hand with some nice key losses to the other guys too! Pretty decent game and night tonight. |

Amazing pace this season. Krak and VGK class of division was not expected.
Now will Krak make go for it now trades? Rather than take what they can in the playoffs.
What area should Krak beef up for playoff drive? |

Its been a fun exciting season so far really. Think most krakheads are just enjoying the ride especially after this year. Dont think any of us expected this though.
As for trade deadline thats been a bit of a fun discussion the past bit. Dont see Francis doing an all in blow a lot of assets. We dont have the depth and doubt he wants to go and disrupt the whole team much. Me? Im still with depth defence and maybe upgrades in the bottom 6. Only big swing maybe depending on cost a second line C moving Gourde down and Geekie to wing or Gourde onto wing in more of a checking role perhaps. |

Well 2LC will cost a lot of futures and prospects so that will be the debate. As for D they get pricey as well near TDL. All can be had without throwing in roster players. But is there cap room to add without subtracting?
A for those needs, funny the Canucks have Horvat and Shenn on the block. Can be had as rentals too. Is the cost worth it for the Krak? |

A cheap add could be someone like Nick Jensen from Washington, if they slip out of the playoffs.
I wonder what it would cost to get Ryan McDonagh from Nashville - provided he would waive his NTC? Three more years at $6.75m but actual salary $8.4/$6.93/$4.2
Another guy who might be available is Scott Mayfield from NYI. Pending UFA, 6’5” 220lb Right shot D. Not a lot of offense, but kills penalties, hits and blocked shots and is a plus player. |

Hopefully Beniers is good to good after the break. Beat the lowly Blue Jackets but he’s an important player we need for the playoff push. |
