If fighting didn’t have any affect on the game, coaches wouldn’t tell their guys not to fight when they have a good lead early in the game.

I'm not sure what you were expecting with Gaudreau. He left Calgary in his prime for less money to play for one of the most irrelevant teams in the league. It's a slap in the face of the team and the city. You can call it toxic if you want, but Flames fans aren't becoming more toxic or anything like that. This happens all the time in every sport. It's a normal reaction. Lebron James did way more for Cleveland than Gaudreau ever did for Calgary and was eviscerated when he returned. Bryce Harper was relentlessly booed. Terrell Owens was hated in Philadelphia.

Who was the last player who spurned their team in their prime and was given a hero's welcome in their first game back? Maybe Kadri? But that was an entirely different situation.

Squeaky is 100% right about the fan reaction to Gaudreau. He spat in the face of the Calgary fans. The guy is getting paid a significant amount of money and will get booed once per year for the rest of his career. I hope he survives by crying himself to sleep after a swim in his Scrooge McDuck money pit.

With respect to Vladar, he's winning games but he's doing it on the wrong side of the expected goals stat (more goals allowed than expected). He's absolutely not statistically as good a goalie as Markstrom but the team is getting better results in front of him. Let him roll but the regression could hit hard if the goal support dries up.

Backlund even said that Gaudreau wanted to play in an American market from an article yesterday on the Flames site. He already had his mind made up he was never going to sign a new contract with the Flames, he could've being honest instead of playing around with ownership and management. At least Chucky was honest and forthright. Gaudreau screwed the Flames and the fanbase.

There's no way Gaudreau made his mind up before the deadline or he wouldn't be playing in Columbus right now. Backlund also said 3 seconds after what you're talking about that Gaudreau was more positive about staying and thinking about resigning last summer.

Tkachuk wasn't being any more honest and forthright than Gaudreau. Tkachuk was still under contract so he demanded a trade. When has demanding a trade ever gained you praise? Neither one of them wanted to sign in Calgary and that puts them in the same boat.

Pelletier is doing well, good two-way game, more passion than Zohorna and Ruzicka. We need that energy. Now let's bring Zary up.

Sorry Trevor, all the booing Johnny Gonny got last night was deserved. They cheered him in the tribute video, to show their respect but after that he’s just another player that fans feel ripped off by.
Fighting definitely changes momentum in the game. Any one that was fortunate enough to grow up watching 80’s hockey would agree. I had season tickets for the first 5 years the Flames came to Calgary, those were some tough teams. BOA, BOQ, Detroit Colorado……
Fighting changes the vibe in the arena
Daryl came out and said he wanted get Pelletier more ice, unfortunately penalties made it harder. I think he’s here to stay, he’s making the most of his chance. My understanding is that he killed penalties in the A and maybe he’ll get a chance here.
Tanev injury hurts but Mackay has watched silently for a long time, I would hope this will be his time. Play him or trade him.
Speaking of D, Weegar had some terrible giveaways last night. I’m still waiting for the Weegar that was ranked in the top 20 D at the beginning of the year.
Vladar is getting points, that’s a really good problem to have, let him start til he loses.
You know eventually Sutter will go back to Marky, he’s proven his loyalty to his guys and I think Markstrom is one of those.
Sutter has taken some heat for his post game comments the other game. This is nothing new, it’s not like we should expect anything different. Poor Eric Francis, sometimes he asks the stupidest questions. Most of us wouldn’t have the stones to answer like that but Sutter has never shied away from that. What other coach would answer a stupid media question with “he went to take a poop”

You may not be that far off. Word is Gaudreau & Treliving had a verbal agreement the night before & his wife stepped in & was adamant they do not stay in Calgary. Word(rumour has it) Gaudreau had a few females lingering around from his party days as a bachelor & she wanted out of this previous environment. Kinda sounded like a Pronger scenario. Aw the hard life of a wealthy young hockey player. Explains Treliving's reaction the next day when he told him no deal.

One of the signs last night hit it the best: "Hey Johnny. Meredith wants you home by 10:00" Haha

Jonny is a punk the way he handled the situation. If he did have a verbal agreement to sign and changed last minute he’s even more pathetic!! Fuk Jonny

Bang on Kman!
And lets not forget Pelletier is a 21 year old kid and playing 2 games a week in the A has provided him much needed time in th gym to get stronger to compete with men. Been saying it for 2 years the kids a bulldog and we got a good one.
As far as Eric Francis goes... the guys a goof and blew that whole press conference out of porportion!

It's very possible that Tanev will retire after the 2023-24 season.

(frank)ed how the Flames went from possibly the deepest team on D to this.

I believe Stone has a nagging injury, which was why he was happier than hell to be 7D. The less he plays, the better he is.

Now would be a great time for Kylington to get better.

Has he been placed on the LTI? One of the analysts mentioned that the closest thing to Kylington's situation was Droiun a couple of years ago with MTL.

Yeah, players assistance program. Seravalli leaked it — not very respectful to his privacy, but the cat is somewhat out of the bag. Not substance related. Maybe an SHL loan would do him good.

As I recall, he was playing men's league as a teenager. Lots of stress comes with being a professional athlete. A lot of athletes burn out before they can become professionals. I hope it all works best for him.

Maybe best to keep him away from Sutter

He didn't leak anything. Treliving said all that before training camp, unless Seravelli actually got into the details. The only new info he really provided was that Kylington's been skating, which isn't really info.

Is that a fan blog? There's no chance any of those three are traded. I guess maybe a miniscule chance that Lucic is moved if they lose their next ten.
