I think a fight early was necessary for the pens in that game.

A bit surprised Gruden got that recall. Not really among their better players.

Zucker scored on the shift he was with Blueger and Carter. McGinn was still serving his major penalty. Rakell scored on the power play, thanks to the hard play of McGinn. O'Connor should have had a tap in while playing with McGinn and Blueger. I think the third line deserves some credit here. By the way, did anyone notice their CF%.

Doesn’t keep his feet moving at all. He’s just coasting and watching most of the time. He needs a slap lol

Yeah, Sully needs to have a conversation. There's virtually no urgency in his game at all.

Fishing is always more entertaining then the pens especially now. What system were you fishing?

I watched from about 5 min into the first until 5 mins left in the 3rd then had to leave the house. Liked a lot of what I saw in that time. If Devils are a top team in league the Pens showed they can dance with the tops.

Didn't know that even held trout with the pollution issue. I know the northern branch its extremely rare to get into any trout at least where I have fished. Do you fish the salmon run in NY? The steelhead fishing right now has been good.

Feel like he should be part of a trade. He’s peaked and tied up on his downhill.

No I have not. I used to be real into trout fishing but now I usually target muskys and smallmouth on flies. Trout is my winter past time these days. The West branch is pretty clean water with a good population of natural reproducing Browns. Some rainbows and smallmouth in there too.

Pens odds to make playoffs were in the low 40%'s last week...this morning they are 58.2%.

So I watched from about the 5 min mark to the 55 min mark yesterday. It just seemed like the Pens were the better team for the most part and that Vanecek was standing on his head at times...now looking at the stats this morning... 5 on 5 HDSCs were 16-6 for the Pens haha.

I have this feeling Hextall just wants us to become sellers at the deadline (which is in his wheelhouse since he likes Picks and prospects). He will use the excuse that we would have won more if healthy.

Not a bad plan if he can sell off players like Kap, Carter, and Dumo and get something in return. I could see Bluegar, Zucker, and maybe someone like Rust being discussed in trades if we did become sellers. I just can't see this team doing anything this year if they did make the playoffs

lol in what world does a team that as championship aspirations (right or wrong, the Pens goal is to compete) want to become sellers.

I dont know man...perhaps too much recency bias for you paired with the idea that the last 4 years playoffs have anything to do with this potential one? Yeah, they had a tough time after the break...that is, until the last few game when they finally got only one RD and their starter back. They were a top 3 to 5 team in pretty much every stat for a 20 game period right before the break, which was also kind of right before all the D and Jarry injuries.

Most think the Devils are a top team in the league...Pens were much better than them yesterday and lost on a PK in OT...a 4 on 3 in the sh!t show known as NHL regular season OT.

Pretty much half a season left...they could lose more key pieces and slide...or they could get back to close to what we've seen the past few games, and before the break, and rise up the standings.

What the Pens don't want is the final wild card spot....the Bruins look insane and I dont see that stopping in the next few months haha

I mean the man sits back and does nothing. Even during our losing streaks.

It's doubtful that Hextall is gonna want to give up picks and prospects to acquire a bigger name at the deadline. A smaller move or 2 doesn't really do much to move the needle. So if we have championship aspirations then a big move or 2 should be made (I don't see Hextall as that type of GM to make a huge trade to make this team better). I believe he will search for a smaller deal or 2 if we are in a playoff spot come trade deadline.
